My Xbox 360 had been running flawlessly...surprising since it was one of the first produced. Then the Orange Box killed it. RROD and all the anguish that comes with that.
I called M$ last night, and spoke to a girl that took all my info, then proceeded to tell me to call back tomorrow, since she couldn't complete the repair order, since their "system was down." I called today, and the girl told me (after being on hold so she could speak to her manager for 20 mins) that there was a problem with MY address. Needless to say, I ensured her that there was no problem with my address, at which point she admitted that in actuality, their system is in disarray, and that the manager will call me in 3-5 business days. She then asked me what time was good to call. I told her I often work up to 70-90 hours/week, and that it's unpredictable. I suggested that maybe it would be easier if I called myself in a few days, to which she again responded, (paraphrasing) 'don't call us, we'll call you.'
So now it's apparently taking days to even get them to set up so that they can MAIL you the coffin even. Not only this, but she then goes on to explain that if I CAN get it working again, to try and clear the HDD cache, since I likely have corrupted save files that may have somehow contributed to the problem She then gave me the secret handshake over the phone on how to do this.
I make decent money, so I was considering scrapping the whole thing and getting an elite. But, that even doesn't seem like a sure shot by any means. Any news on this even more new-and-improved version coming out that doesn't fry?
Assuming I do buy an elite at some point. What am I to do with my 100+ hour character from Oblivion? Can I transfer him to a save card somehow and import him? The whole Elite data transfer thing doesn't seem completely Kosher, and you lose the ability to play your XBLA games offline? Sounds relatively bogus.
