this is gonna be locked- it seems lke system wars to me. but serious- you (archthaman) just used Halo 3 as one of 360
s great games. please dude, cod4 which is multiplatform is way better and ps3 has its own exclusives that are way better.

Agreed. COD4 is where it's at. I was just saying that Halo 3 and Bioshock could be very compelling reasons for some gamers to buy a 360, just like HS and Resistance could persuade others to buy a PS3. I wouldn't say this is system "wars" per se...more like advantages and disadvantages of owning the PS3. All current consoles have great games, but in my OPINION the PS3 console is more future-proof and reliable at this point in time.
i respectfully disagree with you.ronniepage588
And I respect your opinion, but you failed to back up your argument...
Quick thoughts from someone who owned a XBOX 360 Pro for almost 2 years, but sold it and recently bought a 40GB PS3...
The 360 has a better selection of games, including exclusives like BioShock and Halo 3. Also, developers currently have an easier time making multi-platform games for the 360, because the hardware is not as complex as the PS3. The console itself, however, can be unreliable and annoying. I actually work for Microsoft's software reseller division (we sell software licenses to big corporations), and I can tell you that MS has a history of rushing unfininshed products to the market, with plans of releasing "patches" at a later time to fix bugs. The 360 itself has overheating issues, stability issues, and is not equipped to last more than another couple of years at the most. There is no built-in Wi-Fi, no built-in power supply, rechargeable controlles cost extra, online costs extra, the fans and DVD drives are super-loud, etc, etc.
Microsoft has this attitude that they want to make as much money as possible RIGHT NOW, and worry about the problems later. This definitely works AGAINST the end-users. MS honestly only cares about their bottom-line and profit margins. Why would they want to lose money up front by producing a quality product that is more expensive to manufacture than it is to sell??? I'll tell you why...because it all pays off in the long run, since the consumer will have a favorable impression of your product and your brand, which will lead them to purchase MORE of your product in the future since they know you sell reliable products.
Enter the PS3, which is essentially your "luxury" console with all extras included. The up-front cost is slightly more (40GB PS3 is $50 more up than the 20GB 360), but it includes built-in Blu-Ray, wireless internet, a decent web browser, free online play, 20GB more space on the hard drive, rechargeable wireless controller, etc. So the TOTAL cost of the PS3 is actually less than the 360. Also, the failure rate for PS3 is almost non-existent, the power supply is built-in, and the system runs QUIET and COOL. The library of games is not quite as large, but the exclusives are very good. R&C Future, Resistance, and Heavenly Sword can rival any 360 exclusive, in my humble opinion. The only disadvantage I see right now is that developers who design multi-platform games are struggling with the PS3's more complicated hardware. One more thing to think about - Sony is losing HUNDREDS of dollars on each PS3 sold. I understand production costs are almost $700 per console, and they're selling them for as low as $400 each. That shows dedication and committment to the customers.
If you want a console that has a bunch of games NOW, and you don't really care if your console is annoyingly loud and somewhat unreliable, then get a 360. Just be prepared to shell out big bucks for an "optimized" 360 that may or may not last. On the other hand, if you want to invest for the future and want a slick, quiet, and (literally) cool console with some great exclusives, then look no further than the PS3. Buying one was the best decision I've made in a while.
I recently bought COD4 and LOVE the online portion. Very intense stuff. Is there anything out there that matches this? I've heard good things about Resistance. I also heard Ratchet and Clanks multiplayer is pretty good.
Any suggestions?
I can officially say that I am in love with my PS3. This beast has everything the 360 doesn't have...the hard drive is twice as big as the 360's base model, built-in wireless, Blu-Ray, lightweight controllers, Bluetooth accessories, built-in power supply, web browser, free online play, more raw processing power, etc, etc.
The PS3-exclusive games are amazing, too. I have always loved the Ratchet and Clank series, and the PS3 version is amazing in every way. I also was blown away by Uncharted.
I used to think the 360 was the best system to buy. It is slightly cheaper ($349 for the system that's worth anything), and does have more games. One thing that really bothers me is the fact that multi-platform games never run as smoothly on the PS3, but I blame the developers for that. They need to build separate versions for the different hardware, instead of just porting the 360 game to the PS3.
The pros outweigh the cons in so many ways, and I think the PS Network will continue to grow and get better over time. Also, the developers will learn what they're doing and eventually take full advantage of the PS3's hardware capabilities.
All in all, I think this was a great investment, and something that will last quite a few years. I went through a few 360's (4 of them) because they would always stop working. They were also all very loud and VERY hot. I seriously should not be able to fry eggs on my video game console. The PS3 is whisper quiet and gets warm, but not too warm.
I feel like a big dumba$$ for buying a 360 in the first place. I should have just waited for this.

[QUOTE="marki"][QUOTE="KillaHalo2o9"]I would keep my 360 get a intercooler :)chansaetdont get an intercooler. replace the 360 with a new one.. be sure to get one that was not from the first production line. some stores still have these in stock. how do you know its from the first probuction line? Yeah seriously, when I replaced my 1st 360 the guy at Gamestop said there was no way to determine the production date from the label on the box. He said it's just luck of the draw. How do I make sure I get a new one?
My 2nd 360 just died, and I'm about to give up. I did not pay $500-plus for a system that is going to be unreliable. I take care of my systems and there's no excuse for this...
Anyways, I traded a perfectly good PS2 and XBox for this system, and I have a product replacement warranty on my 360. So my question is this - Can I cash in my warranty, get a new 360, and then turn around and return the new 360 for store credit so I can get my trusty PS2 and XBox back? Has anyone done this?
