Hi,

I've recently decided to upgrade my 40GB PS3 HDD due to just installing the 5GB DMC4 game data and with all my other games, music and videos...space seems to be very limited.

I am aware that the hard drive will need to be a 2.5" SATA however I am not sure whether it should be 5400RPM or 7200RPM. Will they both work and if so, is the 7200 one any better for the PS3's performance?

I also have the concern about backing up my data. I know i can simply copy most of it such as save data, music and videos onto a memory stick, however what about my full games and demos? Is there any way of converting them to the new hard drive? My friend has one of those plug and play usb cables which allow you to connect an external hard drive to a pc and browse it...or is it not as simple as that?

Any help would be extremely appreciated, Thanks

Aron

Hi,

I have recently built a new computer in order to play nex gen games (especially unreal 3, far cry 2 and crysis)

I used to have:

DELL DIMENSION 5150

PENTIUM 4 3.0GHz

1GB DDR2 400MHz RAM

BFG 256MB 7600GT OC (only got a year ago)

I now have:

AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6000+

MSI K9N SLI PLATINUM MOTHERBOARD

1GB CORSAIR DDR2 800MHz RAM

BFG 256MB 7600GT OC

I am aware that my graphics card and RAM can be improved, but money wise I cant afford to upgrade them for a long time as I am a student. But I hope this will be capable of running these games on max/high settings, bearing in mind I only play on a 19inch monitor at 1280x1024. I can just about afford more RAM if this is needed, but a new graphics card would be hard, as it may result in needing a new PSU too!

Please could you give feedback towards this machine and whether it is capable for nex gen,

Any help would be extremely appreciated,

Aron.

Hi,

I have a BT Home Hub router connected to my PS3 through a ethernet cable. Originally when I did the connection test I was on NAT type 3 and UPnP was 'not available'. I then looked for all the ports required for PlayStation Network and manually added them into my router (the ports were form the PS3 online manual). Now my NAT type is 2 (is that good?), however UPnP is still 'unavailable'. I have enabled UPnP on my router and the console. What can I do to get it working?

Thanks for any help,

Aron.

ok. well when you see you usb device under the 'music' column, press the triangle button and press 'display all'. You should see your MP3's then.  The PS3 does not yet have the ability to play your own music whilst playing a game, unlike xbox. Hopefully system updates will fix this. Also try the 'display all' thing for your videos too. Once you see your videos/music on your usb device, press trianle on them and then 'copy' to put them on your hard drive:)

The graphics are very good on a non HDTV but you will notice that the web browser is very blurry and many games will have slight pixel flickers. I am running one on a non HD TV at the moment but am planning to get a sony bravia soon. I would recommend waiting for a HD TV to get the full experience with games, blu ray etc... But if you are like me and cant wait, then just get it now:)

To make the system perfect for me I would like to be able to access the menu during a game. So that you can have your own music on, a private chat or read messages whilst in a game. I would also like rumble and a decent footi game like Pro Evo. Also better PS2 compatibilty, I duno about the US but its not good backward compatibilty here in Europe. If all this gets sorted, then I will be getting something worth £400

Hi,

Since software update 1.70 came out, Pro Evo 6 runs much better on the PS3. But now I want to know how to connect this PS2 game online using my PS3. I tried to create an network account on the internal memory card and it said that the connection was successful. Then when I continue in the game it says it is 'testing network area' or something like that then fails:(. Is there anything I am doing wrong? Do you still have to pay for PS2 network using PS3?

Any help will be highly appreciated,

Thanks
