@swiftsails: It's 50/50 for me. I liked Kubrik's movie because Jack Nicholson, but hated the ending. The TV adaptation stayed closer to the book, but less scary, (had the better ending though).

It probably just gives him more control over who can work on these projects, and probably gives him more say-so on how the adaptations are handled, (hate all these watered down versions of his books).
