Le Tour Challenge: Supporting the Fight against Diabetes

Hello everyone. I am in the process of participating in the Le Tour Challenge that Versus TV, MapMyRide.com, and Cannonball are putting on. I will be riding my bike to raise money for Diabetes research and education. Below is my standard letter that I have been sending out. If you are able to help, there are a number of ways to donate including by text message, online, and check, just take a look at this website here:

Thank you all for your support and donations.

I have decided to join thousands of fellow cyclists from across the country in this year's Versus-MapMyRide Le Tour Challenge in an effort to raise money to help the fight against diabetes and further the mission of the American Diabetes Association. I am asking for your help. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Diabetes Association improve the lives of people suffering from the disease through community-based education programs, advocacy, and the funding of critical research towards a cure.

As you may know, diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. Nearly 24 million Americans are living with diabetes. If current trends continue, one out of three children will face a future with diabetes. This is a startling statistic and your donation can help to stem the tide of this terrible disease.

I know my participation in this year's Versus - MapMyRide Le Tour Challenge benefiting the American Diabetes Association will make a difference. Please help me reach my fundraising goal by supporting me with a donation. You can follow the link below to my personal Web page to make a secure, 100% tax deductible donation. To make an offline donation, please visit my page and download the check submission form.

Together we can help in the fight against diabetes!

Best regards,

Adam

PlayStation 3

Well, I have finally purchased a PlayStation 3. It is an origional 60 GB model. Reason I wanted that was becuase my PS2 has been in-opeable for some time now. I have several very good game for that system that I wanted to place and the 60 GB model is the only system I could trust for me to play them. I have heard a number of stories of how the 80 GB system will play some but not all PS2 games. I made the purchase of the PS3 on eBay winning the system for just $341. I Can't wait to get it and will post again when I do. Till then, Happy Gaming.

Bonfire Season!

Yes, It is finally that time of year. The time of year where we light the way for Papa Noel, Bonfire Season. Every year starting on Thanksgiving, we start building wooden structures that will be burnt on Christmas Eve to light the way for Papa Noel. This is a tradition that spans more that 200 years. We usually build between 17 and 19 feet of a 20 foot limit and this year is no exception. This is going to be an especially good one. I am closer to the site on the levee, closer to all of my friends, and have a wonderful wife that I will be spending my first married Christmas with. The unfortunate thing is that my best friend lost his grand mother a few weeks ago to cancer. It does give new meaning to our annual levee painting this year. The painting will be a flying dove holding a purple cancer ribbon. I will post a picture here once it is all done for everyone to see so check back in a few weeks. Until then, here is a picture of a past bonfire and the tribute painting to a friend how died in a 4-wheeler accident.

The New PSP Slim Silver

I got it, the new PSP Slim Silver. This thing is great. it is much liter than the old and o so much faster. I don't have to wait as long for my Baseball game to load. When you are playing a season, that makes a big difference. I got the component cable so that I can hook it up to the TV and man that is awesome. I was watching the Famly Guy UMD on my 32 inch TV and it look like I was watching it off of cable TV. The button are much taller and easier to use. There is still only one joy stick but that is not a big problem to me. Truely the only bad think I can say about the new system is that the UMD slot does not have a defined holder. That does not really hurt the system though. I am just a little more carefull when putting them in. Over all, it give the new PSP Slim 8 out of 10 stars.I really like this thing.

Nintendo Wii

I was fortunate enough to fine a Wii a few days ago. Man, do I love this system. I am haveing a blast with this thing. It can do so many thing. I used it to browise my pictures and vids from my cameras SD card. I also purchased the Internet channel so that when I am on the computer, my wife can use the Wii to check her email and etc. The game controls are great. They take some time to get use to but they are wonderful. I already have had a Wii party and I have only had the system for two days. This thing is going to be a lot of fun.

It is Official, I am married

Well it is official. I got married on June 23rd. I have married the love of my life Sarah. We had a wonderfule wedding at St. Micheals which was built in the 1880s and our reception at the also very old Houmas House Plantation.

This S u c k s

Ever sense school started, I have not had any time to play games. I had an unusual break between two classes the other day and got to play for 10 minutes. Other that that, I have not played at all. It really sucks. I like games but college is so consuming at times. I can’t wait to get out and then all I will have to worry about is work. This school and work thing never stops and is really tough.

A Gamers Christmas

Well for all of you who want to know what went down this Christmas, here is the 411.

My lovely Fiancee went all out for me this year. For starters, she got me World Of WarCraft with a 60 day card. That is really great because I will be able to play with a number of my friends that already have it.

Next was the best, a Play Station Portable. To go with the PSP, she gave me MLB 06-The Show, X-Men 3 - The Last Stand, The NFL skin pack, and a starter kit. My brother gave me Burnout Legends also. My PSP now has the New Orleans Saints skin on it. This was absolutely incredible. I could not have asked for more.

What make this Christmas even more of a gamers Christmas was the fact that I gave my fiancee a pink Nintendo DS Lite. Talk about that thing was hard to get my hands on. None the less, I was able to get it for her. With that I gave her a few extras and Brain Age. My brother gave her Nintendogs Dachshund & Friends. The unfortunate thing is Nintendogs does not seem to be a good game for someone show works full time as a Pastry Chef. We quickly went out and bought her a few other games of here choice too which include Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Brothers.

Eragon

Well, I finally got to see Eragon Wednesday. I think the movie was pretty good on its own but if you look at the book, the movie was not that good. The basic story line followed the book fairly well but there were plenty of changes to it. I hope that they still make the next movie bacause there is still a lot to be told. I am still interested in playing the game despite all of the negative reviews because I am a fan of the book. I will write again when I get the chance to play it.

Has anyone else been able to see the movie and if you did, what did you think?

The BCS needs to be reformatted

Ok, that is it. I have never been a fan of the way the BCS works but this year has ticked me off again. LSU was messed over again and placed in the Sugar Bowl against Notre Dame. Now I do want to state that I have nothing against the Sugar Bowl or Notre Dame. I love the Sugar Bowl because it is just about one hour from me and I root for Notre Dame when they are not playing LSU. The problem here is the system. The BCS is made up of five games (The National Championship Game, Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and the Sugar Bowl). No problem there. The top 10 teams are supposed to be in the five games and they should be placed in the order they rank. This is the problem, the top ten teams do not get in and they are not placed in order. In this case, LSU is number four and there fore should play number three Michigan. No, someone with no regards to the standings had to put number three Michigan against number five Southern California. Another failure in the series is that number nine. Auburn did not receive a BCS game at all. They were messed over in favor of Notre Dame. Auburn rightfully should have a BCS game and they don’t. This is just another year that shows the shortcomings of the BCS in big bright neon signs. My message to the BCS: Stop fixing and start playing fair. The BCS needs to do the correct thing, adopt a playoff system. Only then will we know the true champion in college football. Also I know that you at the BCS are money hungry so here is another FYI: A playoff system would create more games making the BCS and the schools more money. I know there is nothing that can be done for this year but hopefully thing will change in the near future. For now; GEAUX Tigers. For all of you who have not seen the BCS Standings or want to see it again, here it is below.
