Dragon Quest Builders: What to Expect

Due in to hit the shelves in October 2016, Dragon Quest Builders is a spin off sandbox RPG game developed by Square Enix. Dragon Quest Builders doesn’t require you to have played any previous Dragon Quest titles, it is a ‘pick up and play’ experience.

Story

Dragon Quest Builder’s story is a ‘what if’ story following the original Dragon Quest game. The realm has been destroyed due to the hero (from DQ1) who was meant to save the world by defeating a great evil, however, he was tempted into accepting a deal with the Dragon Lord. As a result, the world plummets into darkness, leaving very few survivors. Those who remain struggle to understand creativity and live by scavenging what is left in the ruins.

The protagonist (you),can either be a boy or a girl, is awoken by the Guardian Spirit, a Legendary Builder. He is the only person left who can understand the concept of creativity. It is now up to you to rebuild the world to it’s former glory!

Gameplay

Dragon Quest Builders is a sandbox RPG where the only limit is your imagination. The game is made of blocks (although it doesn’t look so) which you can use to build whatever you want. The game is also played out in real time, and building is easy:

Plan your build

Gather supplies

Build it!

There is an ambient story, so if you wish to follow that, you can. Afterall, it wouldn’t be a Dragon Quest Game without one. The story is accompanied by NPCs, fun side quests and monsters, in order to enhance the RPG experience.

Platforms

The game will be released October 2016 on Playstation 4 & Playstation Vita and will retail for around £35. However, fans on the Playstation Blog speculate that the game will not be available for cross-buy.
