After an extended holiday from computer games and all things computer related, my Gamespot account is now active again, due to the arrival of my brand new computer. After spending the last one and a half years chasing after girls and studying, I realised that the one thing that reliably gave me pleasure was a good computer game.
So when my brother needed my laptop for University, I saw the ideal opportunity to cash in on his departure and swiftly replaced the laptop with a desktop capable of playing high-end games easily, something my laptop hasn't been able to do for the past three years.
With the new Intel Core i5 processor as the main powerhouse of my new machine, multitasking suddenly becomes effortless compared to the measly single core processor I had before. Combined with 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 Crucial RAM, the effect is sublime performance carrying out a range of operations, even with the memory hungry Windows Vista installed.
The only thing missing is a graphics card, and with ATI seemingly streets ahead of nVidia, opting for a 1GB ATI Radeon HD4870 seemed like the best option. All connected to a top-end ASUS motherboard with quad GPU Crossfire support, things are looking rosy for years to come thanks to the ability to upgrade the RAM and graphics of the desktop easily.
In a matter of days, impressive new OS Windows 7 will be released, and will immediately be put onto my computer thanks to a voucher that came with the desktop and then everything will be set for my new era of gaming.
Having never experienced the likes of Bioshock and Elder Scrolls, they, along with Fallout 3 GOTY edition will be delivered by Wednesday and more games will follow in the coming months. And I can't wait to lay my hands on some absolutely legendary games! I might go missing for a while! :D
