The shifting public opinion towards videogamers

Alright, good day, i apologise if this blog is stupid or been done before, this is my first one.

Basically, the purpose of this blog is to document the shifting opinion of public attitude towards videogames and the people who play them.

Again, forgive me if this is inaccurate, as I am not familiar with the 'good old days' of videogames(my first console being a Dreamcast in '01) but it seems to me that due to the simplistic graphics and gameplay of the earlier games, they were regarded as diversions for children. Any adult who played them was either a nerd, or a dangerous deviant. It was kind of like D and D.

Today gamers are regarded as potential psychopaths and murderers. Several shootings and other violent incidents(Columbine, VTech, etc.) brand games as having a casual link with violent behaviour. Idiots like Jack Thompson dont help too much either.

My question is- can anyone trace this noticeable decline from harmless nerd to violent pschopath? The only concrete evidence I can find is Hot Coffee, but I may be wrong.
