I have the original...I hope Gamestop does some extra trade in credit toward a 3000, because I would really like to get a new one.

@xatman911 Unlike the original XBox, the PS2 and PSP don't have antialiasing built in to the graphics hardware, so it's left to the game designers to create it on the software side which is more trouble than it's worth.

Basically, this isn't as drastic a redesign as the DS Lite or GBA SP was, it introduces marginal improvements that will appeal to first time buyers...if they even notice. A friend of mine is giving me his PSP, so I've been following the Slim to see if I wanted to trade up, since I'm getting the thing for free. I think I'll stick with the free one.

at this point, unless Sony's going to hand me one of the things for free, I'm never going to own a PS3. Home is frivolous at best, MGS4 isn't worth $660 (PS3+game), if I still had my PSP, a $600 entry fee for PS1 ports really sucks, and I don't have an HDTV, so Blu-Ray means nothing to me. Sony has screwed up too many things this time, and they will pay the price for it. Are they going belly up? Not a chance. There will be a PS4, no doubt, I just hope that some humble pie this time around will help them to see that just because it says Sony doesn't automatically make it good (unless you're a fanboy...).

At the end of the day it all boils down to yet another lofty promise Sony isn't delivering on. The graphics are not that huge leap Sony was promising, and now that backwards compatibility isn't happening in the original way promised, Sony is acting like, "Well no one really wanted BC anyway." I can't say for sure on your side of the pond, but here in the states, the demand for the PS3 fell off a cliff shortly after launch and people realized that the games just aren't that fun (except for Motorstorm, but that wasn't a launch title here). I thought it was pretty interesting that two weeks after preorders started there are still open slots...

Quick! Sony fanboys of the World unite! Your PS3 is in trouble and it's up to you to save it! Even with rose-colored glasses on, it's hard to be optimistic right now. I haven't wanted a PS3 at all, and this certainly helps that right along. This is the pitfall with using all high end tech in your devices. None of it is tried and true, and as such leads to inevitable problems in production and performance. I have no doubt that after those maybe 500,000 units hit people's homes, there will be quite a few that go right back to the factory due to not working right or at all. Only time will tell, but it doesn't look too good for Sony leading the pack this holiday season

Yeah, I'm really hoping for the Wii release date and price more than anything.
