@billzihang: I'm not defending anyone, but let's say I was, that is your issue why exactly? You criticise Derek Smart, yet you are trying to stifle different opinions to yours, which is EXACTLY what he is well known for doing. You aren't him are you? Just thought I'd ask.

I was commenting on what YOU said about Elite Dangerous. I made that clear in my second paragraph. I made absolutely no reference at all to what anybody else said about ANYTHING AT ALL.

Your points are perfectly valid, but I'm going to take umbrage at your comment about Elite Dangerous because it is a completely different beast to Star Citizen. ED requires a lot more imagination to make it fun and appeals to the Gamer of Yesterday as opposed to SC, which caters for the Gamer of Today, and just because it doesn't fit in with your idea of a game in no way shape or form makes it inferior.

See. ED has been practically self-funded at a FRACTION of the cost of SC. It has been playable for over a year & had several expansions. It cannot be overstated that Horizons is a STAGGERING achievement. Whether you think there is nothing to do on a planet or not is moot - the accurate scale and sometimes wonderous vistas are worth the entry price alone and the fact that Frontier are fluffing it out regularly is testament to their business plan. Over the course of this year you will be able to craft your own unique weapons, have multicrews, create your own unique commander, have ship-launched fighters AND be able to visit different types of planets to the ones you can now. You can do that and be able to do the extra bits well before SC ever sees the light of day.

Eventually Star Citizen will be able to do all those too (and more) - but you CANNOT compare a fractured game, YouTube videos of developers flying about on a PG generated world and pipe-dreams to something which is real, and has been real for over a year - even if it really isn't your cup of tea.
