are you implying that i just keep on playing and take more careful steps of cleaning and cooling my system and wait for it to totally crash? The PS3 will solider on, if it has been damaged or if something has started to melt, playing it in one hour sessions with a 15 min break in between would only prolong its certain death. That's if it's the same story as mine. Something internally was damaged when it first crashed, it would crash and crash and then finally it gave up. Some people say if it does the red light it is with out a doubt broken or will break in a short space of time. Others say its just overheating and it will be fine if you take more care. I'm not sure but I would advise you to prepare for its death. My frickin PS3 slim has been in "Packing" status on play.com for two days :/ urrgh.

sorry, but i believe your console has had it. the same exact thing occured to me and customer service said it is the mother board that experience permanant damage due to possible over heating or something similar. I'm waiting for it to return right now. even without the yellow light, would it still indicate motherboard damage? geee. but it doesn't affect my hard disk right? btw, i've known two of my friends had problems with overheating also.too bad the cooling system is not that good.Benny_Blakk
