Ive got an older power brick, probably from a 2006 xbox it has the ground for the wall outlet as well as the ground going into the power brick. the outside of the cable is made out of metal instead of the grey plastic like the newer ones.. and I've got a newer post HDMI input Xbox.. is it okay to use that with this?

cause cause its a ridiculous problem! im not sure if its my problem or if its a normal

I have 2 different power supplies, one is from the older xbox which has a ground for the wall outlet, as well as a ground going into the power supply, the new one that came with the xbox doesnt.. could it possibly be that the new one makes the noise because of the lack of the ground? this is just knowledge im trying to pull from my knowing of guitars and how they make static hum if they arent grounded correctly

this is me too. i just bought an xbox that after about 10 minutes within turning it off, i noticed a high pitched tone similar to the sound a fan in those old desktops makes. I'm not sure how to stop it! i really dont wanna go thru the hassle of trying to get a new one too. ill see how annoying/ dangerous it is. if my house burns down ill let the forum know i guess heh
