Agreed. It means that people that own only PS3's will probably end up receiving less demos, less copies of the PS3 version will sell, and Sony won't make royalties from a disc that might have been sold. On the flipside, the publisher might be willing to pay 16c for a 1GB demo if they think it will lead to adequate conversion into sales. It will probably take a few months to see if there is any shift in the amount of demos.Sounds like a great way to give MS more exclusive DLC. And charging money for bandwidthused by gamersdownloading demos is just absurd. Makes me wonder if Sony realizes they're in third place.

I've got a Sixaxis and Dual Shock already aligned to my system. I also have a Mad Catz controller which I haven't used on my system (I bought it originally so I could play with someone else who only had one controller). I finally want to play 3 players, but I don't know how to assign the Mad Catz controller to my console and I have lost the instructions that came with it.
It has a USB wireless receiver. When I flick the on switch on the controller, the 4 lights on the controller flash, but it doesn't set to one of the positions. Pressing or holding the Home button doesn't help. I've noticed that there is an unlit LED on the USB receiver, but I don't remember if it was always lit up, or only when the controller was connected. The receiver could simply be broken.
Any assistance would be appreciated if I'm forgetting some important step.
I went to download the latest On The Spot, but I haven't downloaded one for a while. I used to download these on another computer, and had the Gamespot Download Manager, but I don't seem to be able to find it. Does this feature no longer exist?
I have Getright (a download manager) but it doesn't seem to ever start the download.
I have begun downloading the movie using the simple "Save As" option, but in my experience a file of this size times out long before it is finished downloading. If it is of consequence, I don't have the latest version of Internet Explorer, I think it is 6.
Well, it has finally landed in Australia. But which one do I buy? All things being equal, I suppose PS3 is the best bet because I have more hard drive space should I wish to download songs. But I've never been able to make heads or tails of the instrument compatibility.
For the 360 version and the PS3 version, are the instruments compatible with any of the Guitar Hero games? Are any of the Guitar Hero guitars useable? Remember that I am talking about Rock Band 1, not the sequel. Thanks for any help.
I don't think it is new, as much as becoming more accessible. I used to make maps for Doom. I used to play around with files so that weapons and enemies behaved differently. Others made new graphics or full conversions, but a lot of that stuff was hard. I'm not a PC gamer anymore, but other games that seem to have had a healthy mod community include Quake, Half-Life and Unreal Tournament. Some of these were nothing like the original game (Counter-Strike plays much differently than Half-Life), and there were plenty of mods for Unreal Tournament that changed the goals a match as well as the basic physics/speed etc. It's not just first person shooter either. I've seen complete mods for RTS games using the games in-built tool, plus there is stuff like RPG Maker.
While obviously we still have to get our hands on LittleBigPlanet, it seems more like a level editor than an actual game creator. It does seem pretty robust though, and I don't know too much about the goal setting aspect, so I could be wrong; there could be soem very interesting challenges thrown at us far different than what the developers ever expected.
I think the key thing about LittleBigPlanet is the accessibility. If you can think of a design, you can probably whip up a prototype in a few minutes and test the idea. The fact that it is relatively unheard of on consoles (at least of this depth) is another reason why people are excited about it (Blastworks does come to mind though).
Nice interview, keep up the good work smerlus.
