I think I'm just going to stress-test my console over the weekend. Play GeOW for as long as possible in a single session. If my console doesn't break from a 10hr GeOW session, it probably won't break from anything else I'll subject it to in the rest of its lifespan.

Thats the problem with the 3 year warranty thing. They just need to issue a recall. The rest of us who havent had a problem yet are gonna be like scared dogs in a thunderstorm, anxiously waiting for our systems to break. Then wondering what might happen if it goes past 3 years. Then what? Will it still be covered, or will we get screwed? born2runak

THANK YOU!

In your situation I would just sent your 360 for repair/replacement once you get red ring. If you still want a cooling system for the one you get back from MS, go for one that is powered by USB and NOT THE TYPE THAT ATTACHES TO THE BACK OF THE SYSTEM OVER THE POWER INPUT.

I am thinking about doing the same thing... I have a 360 from the faulty production run, I just haven't played it for more than an hour yet.

Do they apply the fixes to every 360 they take in for repair?

Do they do diagnostics or stress tests on your 360 when you send it in? I dont want to send mine in and be out of a console for 6 weeks just to have it sent back because they couldn't find anything to fix and don't install the new heatsinks and fixes as a standard practice.

Perhaps I should just play the thing hours on end until I get the RROD, then send it in?
