well i'm listening to it now, and I'm very very surprised by how DARK it is.  O__O  For a game with enough cutesiness in there to give me a toothache (based on the screencaps anyway), the music reminds me surprisingly of FF7.  Take track 2, for example, Lamenting Toll Bell, it reminds me very much the music in FF7 in latter part of Shinra building and also some flashbacks to inside the Mako reactor.  The Ice Village track (or snow village) reminds me somewhat of the snow village in FF7.  Overall there are just more somber/darker pieces than any recent osts i've heard.

Considering the Blue Dragon OST is done by Nobuo Uematsu, I suppose i'm not surprised that it might sound like some of his older works, but I'm seriously surprised that he chose ff7's mood.  i would've expected something far cuter/preppier.  lol 

Well it's not really a BAD thing, honestly.  I misses his work on FF7 (being one of the better OSTs he composed) and I have a feeling Blue Dragon OST is going up there for me afterall.  :D
