omggggg i managed to make it so i can play the ps2 on my desktop monitor. Which is awesome because it means i can play all my games even before i get my butt home. :D
So I was playing more of FF12, i've logged approximately 41 hours now. It's funny because I was talking to this guy and he was saying how people can totally beat FF12 in 40 hours or so. I just find it hilarious because at 41 hours i was barely about half way through the game. XD
I finally got my second esper, Mateus. She's not all that great, but i put her on Balthier 'cause I can see him using ice. :D I really like that game, but there are both problems and good points.
The world is huge which can be seen as both a good and bad thing. I love the graphics, and the feeling that it's an entire world is awesome. But on the other hand, after playing it for, say, 5 hours straight, my hands starts to hurt from constantly pressing forward, and i start to get really annoyed at having to run around the world eithe rfighting or trying to find what I'm trying to find. For example a couple of days ago i spent almost an hour wandering around Giza plains Rain trying to find those stupid dead trees to knock down so i can get access to the Track of Beast area to find a hunt. and then the subsequent fight against the Gil Snapper took nearly 40 min just on it's own, and i had to do it twice because toward the end al i could do was heal like mad.
At times like those, I just wish the world is far smaller. But I think it's more because i've been playing for way too long that I feel that way. XD Like the next morning i'd be thnking "omg i dun wanna play it any more..." but once i start, i can't stop. That is, until 5 hours later when my hands are hurting and i have a headache from fighting. XD
As for the story...well after playing games like SMT, i feel like I've been ruined for other games lol. The thing about ff12's plot is that it's normal fantasy epic. Which to me by this point in time, isn't much of an epic any more. Not after the true grand epic of games like Xenosaga, where the story is utterly incredible. That game, every term has a hidden connotation. Ever character is mysterious. Every object and army and even the monsters has an ulterior motive. And put it to the utterly grandness of an entire universe - now that's epic.
But ff12, I sort of saw a lot of things coming. It's not epic, it's merely grand. It's grand fantasy, basically, which by now is nothing special any more. But that doesn't mean it's not good, but it's just nothing special. Comopared to the eeriness of any SMT games, compared to the epic of Xenosaga, FF12's fantasy root is just too set, so to speak. There's really not even that much political stuff going, far less story scenes, which makes me feel remote from the plot of the story. On the other hand, the gameplay and battle system being the true strong point of the game, they might be the smarter one to make the focus that rather than the story.
On a side note i've bought myself SMT Devil Summoner too. :D I started it for like 20 min, and it's so cute. XD I like it but i feel like i should finish ff12 first before i really dig in that one, mostly because i'm starting ot feel guilty about having so many unfinished games (FF12, Shadow Hearts 1 & 2, Magna Carta, DQ8, DDS2....yeah...). Plus ff12 really is hard to put down once you start. XD
But still i can't wait to dig into Devil Summoner... XD
