For goodness sake, there is no "better version". They're pretty dang similar with availability being the only small difference. Can you honestly stop supporting one game or the other? They're nearly the same thing, just let people choose which ever colour they prefer.

Just because you think you're too old and pro for the games doesn't mean they aren't fun. I bet you only played them originally to fit in with friends at school, and stopped when people started considering it too "kiddish". You're just less fascinated by new games because younger kids are more easily fascinated. You wouldn't actually like the old games if they were released when you were your current age. You don't actually like the series I would bet, you only cling to the old ones because you're nostalgic.
In the 4th generation (diamond, pearl, and platinum) they said that Arceus was the first pokemon, and Palkia and Dialga were both the second pokemon, and Azelf, Uxic, and Mesprit were the third pokemon or something like that. How many more can they make??
Oh, remember the good old days when there was only 151 pokemon? Ahhhh yes. That's when Pokemon was cooler.

You just say that because you really aren't a fan of the series at all. You liked RBY when you were younger, but stopped playing the games later, and now want to make an excuse as to why you stopped playing (the new Pokemon are stupid). The 1st gen is as generic as the 4tthe gen for the most part, it's just that you were a naive younger person when it came out making it seem amazing and new to you. You're just nostalgic about the games of your childhood(RBY), you aren't actually interested as Pokemon as a series, since you feel you're too old and too cool for the games now. You aren't too old or too cool, you're just nostalgic, and don't want to accept change.
