Any digital distribution service gets a cut of game sales. Steam does, gametap does, gamesgate does, Origin does. I have no idea what that number is, but they make money. EA is just trying to expand Origins audience and game library, so it is good business on their part, and small developers get to see more profits, so they can make more better games. everybody wins.
