Episode 1 - Howling Street Corner
Legend has it that only wolves know where paradise is. Some humans believe that it is a lie and that wolves will only bring evil to the world. However, most believe that wolves have been extinct for 200 years.
As Tsume and his gang are returning from a raid, they stumble upon a gathered crowd. At first, it appears that an injured dog has taken refuge in the hollow of a tree but it soon becomes clear that the dog is actually a wolf. Tsume leads the wolf off, away from the crowd, before talking to it. Tsume tells the wolf that there are rules in the town that he must follow but the wolf responds by fighting him. One of Tsume's men jumps in and drives the wolf off. Tsume brushes off the help and walks away, angry. The wolf runs off, only to be tracked down by Quent Yaiden, a hunter who seeks out wolves with the help of his dog, Blue.
Meanwhile, scientists watch Cheza, the Flower Daughter, as her facial expression changes. They believe that she has a special bond with wolves and that she can smell their blood.
The scientists come to investigate the wolf that was shot. Neither of them are convinced that Cheza may have been reacting to the wolf, but they decide to transport the wolf back to their laboratory. As they go in search of someone to help them carry the cage, a boy named Hige comes back. He kneels down and asks the wolf why he is there. The wolf returns the question and Hige tells him that he's just wandering around. He also explains that he has taken on the form of a human so he will not get caught. Hige convinces the wolf to turn into a human and the pair of them leave the facility, undetected.
Meanwhile, Tsume's gang is out stealing more food from the nobles. As they are running away, one of the members slips. Tsume reaches out to grab him, turning in a wolf briefly to bite into his shoulder. The man screams and falls to his death. Meanwhile, Hige asks the stranger why he came to the town. The stranger replies that he smelled the scent of flowers. He wants to escape to Paradise.
