Episode 12 - Holy Night
At the Order, the nuns are preparing for Christmas celebrations. Rosette bursts in and asks to borrow Azmaria, who is on stage practicing to be Gabriel in the play. They go to Sister Kate's office, where they find photos from San Francisco. Three of the Order's agents that were investigating Aion have disappeared as well. Sister Kate and Remington believe that something major is going to happen out there. Rosette asks for permission to find Joshua. Chrno and Azmaria agree to help. Rosette goes to pack, but all the other nuns and Remington ask her to stay for Christmas. Rosette agrees.
As they are out seeking donations, Azmaria remembers past Christmas celebrations, one with a family who mistreated her and one with a family who treated her very well. Rosette pokes Azmaria and tells her that she needs to engage the pedestrians more. She runs into Satella, who is the president of an arts dealing firm. She puts a wad of hundred dollar bills into Rosette's begging box. Satella explains that her car is loaded up with presents for business associates. Azmaria tells them that Satella is like Santa Claus, then says that she has never had a Christmas present.
That night, Azmaria asks the other sisters what people give others for Christmas. They tell her to go look in stores to find the perfect gifts for Rosette and Chrno.
The next day, Chrno helps Rosette prepare to decorate for Christmas. He tells her that he thinks it was good that they did not leave yet. Out in the town, Azmaria goes shopping for Christmas presents. She sees a snow globe and asks the shopkeeper if it makes a good Christmas present. The shopkeeper agrees to hold it for her until Christmas Eve, when Azmaria will have some money.
December 24th rolls around. Azmaria performs in the play and is praised by the sisters afterwards. She remembers the snow globe and runs to the store. The shopkeeper has held it for her and he wraps it up for her. As he gives it to her, a man runs in, searching for the snow globe. He has promised his girlfriend the snow globe. The shopkeeper tells the man that it has already been sold and the man leaves the store. Azmaria runs after him and gives him the present. She picks another present out for Rosette and Chrno.
As she is walking home, she runs into Rosette and Chrno who are out delivering presents to orphans. Azmaria rides along with them. As Rosette is rooting around in the bag, she stumbles on Azmaria's present for her and Chrno. At the end of the day, Rosette and Chrno thank her for the presents. When they walk into the main building, all the nuns surprise Azmaria with presents and a Christmas feast. Azmaria begins crying from happiness. After the feast is over and everyone has opened their presents, Rosette and Chrno exchange presents and watch the snow fall.
