Episode 21 - Red Glow

Back outside the lab, Barry laughs and charges Al and throws a chop from the right, which Al blocks. Barry and Al jump back and Barry laughs again, asking him what's wrong. He then says that an artificial soul isn't all that good. Al yells that he's Alphonse Elric, but then Barry charges, slamming Al into the wall (causing a big dent). He tells Al that he doesn't have any proof of it. Al counters, what about Barry? He's in the same position as Al. He could be fake, too. Barry jumps back a bit, putting some distance, and Al continues to try and retaliate against Barry's words, but he sees that Barry is looking at something nearby. They see a shadowed figure jump down from the wall. Barry laughs, glad to have so much fun today. He tells Al he knows he's real because he loves cutting up people. "I kill, therefore I am!" Barry charges the shadowed figure, and is about to cut him, but his right arm is caught, and we see that the shadowed figure was Scar. Barry tries to free himself, but Scar destroys his right arm, which shocks Barry. Scar then pulls up his sleeve, revealing the tattoo, which further shocks the murderer. He wonders how can it be there? Scar realizes that Barry knows something about the tattoo, and asks him about it. Barry acts sly, moving away to the wall of the Lab. Searching the wall, he opens a small panel, and laughing, hits the button, causing an explosion. Inside the lab, we see a room glowing red with weird symbols, a man bound on the floor. On the ceiling is a skull, which gets knocked off, the glow stopping. The man gets up, laughing crazily, and breaks free of his restraints. With an evil grin, he comments about how it's been about 130 years. Elsewhere in the lab, we see a prison of some sorts with a lot of chimeras. This man breaks in, telling them that if they want to go to the outside world and have some fun, to go with him. We see the shadows of what looks like several people, too. Back outside, Al and Scar are in the wreckage (Al is kinda protecting Scar). Barry is standing on some rubble, skipping and laughing. There are bombs throughout the building which he can use to help hide. He runs inside and tells Scar that if he wants to learn about his arm, he can follow. Scar and Al follow. Ed, meanwhile, wonders what the explosion was. The Elder Slicer brother tells Ed about the bombs, and that they should hurry because others could be triggered due to the shock. Ed picks up the Elder brother, but wonders what to do about the younger. Younger tells him to not worry, just finish him off, but Ed can't do it. He tells Ed he can't do anything in his body right now. Ed could fix him, but he won't let him do it, he doesn't want to be the guard again. Ed tells him that once he has the Stone, he could turn them both to human...but the Elder tells him that if they became human again, they would just be executed. The Younger places his thumb against his Blood Circle (the Transmutation Circle that keeps his soul bound to the armor). Ed drops the Elder, trying to stop the Younger, but he won't let him. He's happy that Ed called him human, that's why he can't go back to being #48. The Younger tells Elder that he's going ahead, and destroys his Circle, releasing his soul. Ed can't believe he chose to do that, and doesn't want Al to do the same. Quiet now, he picks up Elder and walks further into the lab. Next door, at the Prison, the guards outside are shocked to see the plume of smoke coming from the Fifth Lab. Inside, two guards are walking down the hall, collecting prisoners. Evidently, they're going to be used for Research. They're interupted by another tremor, and one wonders if its an earthquake. A voice comes from a nearby cell, telling them that its the sound of a building collapsing. Inside, we see a disheveled (sp?) man, who looks quite familiar. He is Kimbley, who participated in the Ishbal Massacre (sp?) as the Crimson Alchemist, also called the Mad Bomber. He killed many of his own allies as well as his enemies. We see his hands and they have the same Transmutation Circles as the insane man we saw in the flashback of the Ishbal Massacre. After that, we see Gran taking the prisoners out. It's obviously not Grna, though (but the soldiers don't know that), and we hear Lust talking about Envy gathering the ingredients (in other words, that's Envy). Gluttony calls Lust over and they both look over into a giant hole. The hole goes through several floors. At the bottom is the room where that man was, the designs dark. Lust realizes that they need to work quickly, or else Greed could mess things up (Greed was the one in that room). Ed and Elder are walking down the hall, and Ed tells him that there better not be any more traps. Elder tells him that no one has gotten this far, so there's no worry. However, they hear growling, and several Chimeras bound out of the dark. Ed throws Elder into the air (he's just a helmet now) and kills several of them. But as he cuts through them, he hears a whistle, and the remaining Chimeras bow their head. Ed wonders who else could be alive, and they hear loud footsteps. Out of the shadows steps a giant creature, looking like some sort of bull standing on its back legs. However, there's some strange human-like flesh near its head . He's the one who created the Chimeras. The creature tells Ed that he didn't create all of them, though, his voice familiar, though raspy and whispering. The beast leans back, revealing its face. It is Tucker. Ed grabs him and demands as to why he's still there. He was executed! But Elder tells him that the Slicers were "executed" too, and they're still there. Ed asks why is he still alive when Nina is dead. Tucker tells him that it's for Nina's sake. He understands how Ed feels now. Elsewhere in the building (where Ed transmuted the whole hallway into a smooth passageway), Scar and Al are walking down it. Al tries to get Scar off of the idea of killing his brother. Al tells him that they don't want the Philosopher's Stone for bad reasons, just to help themselves. But Scar tells him that they don't realize how horrible the stone is, and has a flashback to Ishbal. We see a young Scar (with brown hair) knocking on a door, calling for his brother. The doro finally opens, and we see the camera slowly pan up on the half of his brother, Bruce (not his real name, a name that we've given him), that is visible. In the background, we hear something steaming, and there's a lot of blood. Although he didn't say what he lost, it's pretty easy to tell (Ouch). He talks about the Philosopher's Stone, wondering if it could bring her back. Later, we see an older Scar (with his usual colored hair now), running through the warzone. He knocks on another door, calling for his brother. This time, he walks out, crying, and completely tattooed and nude. He talks about how he wanted to create the Stone to save Ishbal and bring back her, but in order to make the Stone, Ishbal must perish. He walks off into the distance, Scar calling out after him. Al brings Scar back from his memories and tries to comfort him. But they are interrupted by Lust and Gluttony. Scar asks why does she have her face. Did Bruce succeed? Gluttony asks if he can eat them. Scar calls them Homunculus, and Al can't believe it. Back inside the lab, Ed, Elder, and Tucker are walking through a room with a lot of shelves with stuff on them. Tucker tells him that he didn't just make Chimeras here, there are many other research projects. Ed knows that a normal Alchemist can't affix souls to objects, and demands who did it. Marcoh? Gran? Or...? (Just a guess on my part, but I think he thinks it may've been his father - Maenos). Just then, Ed hears something, and looks at the curtains behind him. Tucker tells him to be careful, she's shy. He pulls open the curtains and sees several large tubes with Chimeras in them, all of them looking somewhat human, bearing Nina's face. Tucker tells him that they can't hold their form when they touch air still, so they're unstable. He has tried to create a Chimera that looks like Nina several times, and then after one of them he ended up as he is now. But, he's almost there. He leads Ed to another room with a soft red glow. Ed runs in, spinning around. The walls are glass with Alchemic writing, there are several tubes in a pattern, a large Transmutation Circle on the floor. The tubes and the walls hold a giant amount of Red Water, which gives the room its red glow. He runs to one tube and turns a valve, a little bit of the Red Water dripping out, hardening into a Red Stone. He recognizes it as the Incomplete Stone that Marcoh had. Tucker tells him that although it's incomplete, it still has a great amount of power. He theorizes that if he used enough of the Incomplete, he could turn it into the true Philosopher's Stone. During this, Al and Scar are fighting Gluttony and Lust. Lust cuts the sleeve off of Scar's right arm (his right arm is fine), and we see the tattoo again. And then we see the Transmutation Circle in the room, and it looks exactly like it. However...no one has succeeded with this before. No ordinary Alchemist can do it. Ed tells him that he's no ordinary Alchemist, to which Tucker smiles.
