Samurai Deeper Kyo Episode 7: Keichou Battle Royal

There are rumors that Yukimura will sneak into the Gozen Jiai. Ieyasu’s protectors will be ready for him and any others that may want to assassinate the Shogun. They will use them as evidence of the rebellion.

Jyukamen won his match. No one knows his real name or face, but he was recommended by Honda Tadakatsu of the Tokugama Shi*ennou. Migeira wins the second match, and Yukimura disguised as the woman, Kouhaku, the third.

The fourth match puts Red Tiger, aka Benitore the Silhouette, against Kyo. Benitore’s attacks are no match for Kyo, even when he does his technique that creates multiple silhouettes of himself. Kyo decides to teach him the Mumyo jinpuryu Satujinken (Red Mirage), the art which was used to defeat Shirogarasu. Everything goes red and Benitore sees his father. His father asks him to save the Tokugawa clan. Then he sees Sensei, who tells him if he can’t beat Kyo, he will die by his hand. Benitore breaks it, and Kyo is impressed. He used his real spear though, so he is disqualified.

Migeira meets Kyo later that night. There are five real Muramasas in the world. Kyo has one, and the Tokugawa treasure is another, even though the Muramasa is rumored to give misfortune to every leader of the Tokugawa clan who owns one. If the five are brought together, the world will show its true appearance.

Kyo then meets Yukimura who tells him about a man called Toyotomi Nobushige. He lost at the Battle of Sekigahora and now spends his days in the mountains. Yukimura believes that if he kills Ieyasu, chaos will return to the land. Then he can conquer the world. Associating Toyotomi Nobushige with Yukimura, Kyo asks what conquering the world has to do with him.

The next day during the Gozen Jiai, Yukimura as Kouhaku faces Jyukamen. Yukimura cuts the mask off his face, recognizing him as his brother, Nobuyuki. During the Warring States Era, Sanada Nobuyuki and Yukimura were thought of as the wisest generals. At Sekigahara, their father, Masayuki and Yukimura joined the Western Army while Nobuyuki secretly joined the Eastern Army led by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Yukimura asks who he found that’s worth fighting the Sanada clan for. He tells him Udaisho Tokugawa Hidetada-sama (aka Red Tiger or Benitore). He joined Hidetada-sama and as their troops were advancing through Nakesen on their way to Sekigahara, they came to Ueda castle where Yukimura and their father were. Sanada Masayuki sent out word that they would surrender and invited Hidetada-sama inside. Hidetada-sama asked Nobuyuki if he could trust his father, and Nobuyuki said he could. When he went inside, the Western Army attacked. Hidetada-sama and Nobuyuki barely escaped. Because of that, Nobuyuki was going to commit hara-kiri, but Hidetada stopped him. He said he was glad they didn’t go to Sekigahara, as that battle didn’t interest him. From that moment, Nobuyuki thought HIdetada-sama was a better man than him.
