Yoh’s next opponent has been announced, Faust VIII. Karimu, the priest that backed Horo Horo warns Silva that Faust VIII is extremely dangerous and that he should encourage Yoh to quit. Silva doesn’t feel he has the right to ask someone to quit.
Horo Horo joins Yoh and company for dinner, but Pirika tracks him down to continue training. Yoh tries to encourage her that everything will be ok, but she blows up at him, accusing him of ruining her dream. Yoh reflects on this and about everyone who will lose their dream of becoming the Shaman King when the winner is decided. Yoh’s next match is next Sunday at Chokohama Foreigner Cemetary.
It is raining on Sunday, so Anna goes to buy an umbrella. On her way, Silva asks to speak with her. During the meal, Silva asks Anna to make Yoh forfeit the next match.
He doesn’t want Yoh to die.
Meanwhile, Faust VIII shows up at the cemetery ready for the next match. He’s wearing purple lipstick, has blonde hair, and has triangles painted under his eyes. He is glad to meet Yoh, as he was hoping his next opponent wouldn’t be too scary. Amidamaru quickly warns Yoh not to let his guard down because he senses an unnatural smell of death.
Silva explains to Anna that two weeks ago, Faust VIII killed his opponent. He continued attacking even after his opponent’s Furyoku faded and seriously injured a priest who had come to stop the fight. Once Faust loses control, he doesn’t stop. Because Faust VIII is a necromancer, he will have an advantage during the match because it will be held in a cemetery. Anna is unimpressed with Silva’s concern and refuses to force Yoh to forfeit the match.
Faust takes off his coat to reveal a skeleton chained to his arm. He is able to OverSoul the souls of the dead into corpses and demonstrates this with his skeleton. Manta is amazed and asks if he is Dr. Faust. Faust replies that he is one of his descendants. Dr. Faust lived five hundred years ago as a scholar who was known to have mastered everything from alchemy to magic. He was also a necromancer. As a doctor, Faust VIII also was a scholar who tried to save many people, but he was never able to overcome death. Now he seeks to learn the path. Manta comments that it is impossible to overcome death & Faust VIII loses it and accuses him of making fun of his research. He sends his skeleton after him, but Yoh intervenes. Suddenly, Faust VIII summons the souls of the dead to carry off Manta. As Yoh tries to run after him, several skeletons hold him back. Manta is strapped to a cross as Faust continues his tirade & inserts some kind of green glowing thing into Manta’s abdomen. Manta isn’t doing very well & Yoh gets mad enough to destroy the bones holding him back. Faust VIII is amazed that he could break out of his bone prison and calls for more minions “Bone Dead Reborn” to kill Yoh.
Yoh breaks free again and vows he will not forgive Faust VIII.
