@cetaepsilon: Don't ask me why but yes. 3 Buttons = always, sometimes, never - top to bottom. 2 Buttons = sometimes, never.

@DaGoyaMan: Push through, the game is awesome. Tell people you'll be an adult again later.

@paul136@stylest: I agree that $60 (or whatever constitutes the price that you're willing to pay for a game) should buy you the whole game but I guess if they're going to add a multiplayer mode, they have to keep the servers going somehow.

Microtransactions in any full retail game are pretty much the worst. Marketers try to sell them as "skipping the grind" for players who are cash rich & time poor but the fact is that we can't trust the devs not to add more grind to the game to push microtransactions. The game you pay for should be fun & rewarding without having to pay to skip the game. An example is the latest Forza allowing you to pay more than the base cost for cars already in the game! That's right, not even additional content.

Mass Effect 3 is another example of the main game being affected by greedy monetisation practices. The Prothean character who was already on the disc was developed before the game was released & should have been part of the main game but it was restricted to those who pre-ordered or sold separately as DLC. The Mass Effect series is a story heavy trilogy of games & to have a major piece of story that is important to the lore locked behind a paywall shows exactly how the customer's experience of the base game can be adversely affected by greedy publishers.

Jim Sterling & TotalBiscuit are both pretty vocal about microtransactions & they both have some very good points. I would say that any single player game should include everything in the price of entry. DLC developed after the game is released is fair game for charging extra but customers only have themselves to blame if they pre-order a season pass & are disappointed with the content. If a single player game has an added online mode (like GTA V) then I don't mind them having microtransactions to support ongoing online play - it's basically a free-to-play game tacked on to the game that you actually wanted to play.

At the end of the day, moaning doesn't do much - customers vote with their wallets. The devs of Forza 6 have announced that there won't be microtransactions in the coming game, Deus Ex pulled their 'Augment Your Pre-Order' scheme & Arkham Knight was pulled from Steam. I could almost guarantee you that all of these decisions were based on sales (or refunds in the case of Arkham Knight) not merely people complaining.

Sony's automatic downloads are a strange concept. They seem to be for the consumer who has so much data that they don't care when games they won't play get downloaded but so little bandwidth that they can't wait for the games they do want to play.

This was announced way back before the PS4 launched but since this is the first time it's come up it looks like it's more about Sony finding new ways to take money from publishers' marketing budgets than actual predictions based on games people play.

Also, is there some kind of service that will allow me to be frozen & wake up when Cyberpunk 2077 is released?

If you're going to reboot a dead series, you've gotta do it right.

I enjoyed the skateboard/bmx/snowboard/inline genre back in the day but judging from this release, it's not coming back for a while.

Cool. I'm not sure how well Far Cry without guns will appeal to the masses but personally, I'm keen for an entry to the series that isn't just a reskin.

My biggest wish is that it could be played without Uplay, notorious deleter of saved games. I really want to finish Far Cry 4 but restarting after losing 30-40 hours of progress is a bit of a mental barrier.

@TERMINATOR-SSD: Yeah, it's a pretty amazing concept but there's not much actual gameplay yet.

I think the effect on how future games are made will be a bigger legacy than the game itself. That is unless they hire a lot more people & put an actual game in their sandbox.

@IanNottinghamX: But think of the poor starving publishers! Do you expect them to sleep on real beds instead of piles of $100 bills?

@thespicychiken: Apparently there are more tombs in this than the last game. Perhaps they didn't want to spoil the puzzles?

I never played much of the old Tomb Raiders but I liked the mix of puzzles & action in God of War.
