Good to hear that I'm not alone in thinking that in the majority of the shots, Gears 1 looks better, especially the environments. The character art in 2 seems a bit sharper, and Anya Stroud has definitely improved, but the general lighting and atmospherics for the environments was superior in 1.

I always take comparisons like these with a grain of salt. Multi-platform titles, while convenient to use in such comparisons, are almost always a port over from one platform to the next. Development is almost never concurrent. Framework is designed based on the architecture of the lead sku and then content is ported and most often down-rezzed for the secondary sku. Therefore, these comparisons are almost always inherently unfair, as the secondary platform will always look a bit poorer. Also, consider that these differences are so completely unnoticeable if all you own is one system and have no frame of reference to actually know that your system has an inferior graphic output. On top of it all, the image is in motion, your TV settings and quality comes into play, and etc and so forth. Ultimately, these comparisons mean nothing if you just having too much fun to notice. I think its time to stop adding fuel to the fanboy war and stop these pointless articles.
