Movie Review- Captain America: Brave New World

I remember most Marvel films being quite enjoyable ten years ago, especially if it was The Avengers franchise where each film would connect with another movie that would connect to another and then lead up to a big battle which would be Infinity War and Endgame which were both hyped and exciting at the same time. Soon after the Marvel franchise goes downhill a little bit the last Marvel films I quite enjoyed recently were both Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and Venom: The Last Dance; wanted to have very little knowledge and only seen one trailer which I've seen a few times in cinemas and during MCM London back in October being Captain America: Brave New World.

After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Sam (Anthony Mackie) finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red. With it being the fourth instalment in the Captain America franchise, I was curious to see where the story would continue next after Falcon gaining the new title and name on Captain America after Steve Rogers giving him the shield in Endgame. The story itself felt all over the place here and there making it feel like this was from a Netflix series or Disney Plus streaming service because there were a few odd moments just slightly dragged a little bit at the same time Harrison Ford performance on Ross did try to make it a little series but not quite. Not to mention there were some scenes that did give me Metal Gear Solid vibes which I did like based on mind controls and certain trigger words trying to keep the story interesting.

The visual effects are the only thing that did stand out for most of the film and the fight towards the last 16 minutes of the film of Falcon and Red Hulk fighting which was one of the main reasons why most Marvel fans would watch it in the first place. There is an end credit scene which does lead up to the next Marvel with very little information but the clues will add up soon after especially if it's The Fantastic Four which I think will be a hit during Summer.

Might not be the perfect Marvel film that to start of the year, but if you've enjoyed the Captain America series it's worth the watch or wait until it comes on DVD/Blu-Ray or Streaming service.
