After getting abut half way through the game i find myself both agreeing and disagreeing with Gamespots review of Fable. I agree the dog has is retarded, walking into tree, bushes, rocks and on one occasion himself as well as having no emotional connection as was well established in the second game. Five minutes at the start of the game of you as a teenager meeting the dog and possibly your partner from the first section of the game would have made a big difference.
I don't agree however that the the technical hiccups and the over simplified combat detract massively from the game, it is still an awesomely colourful world full of characters which make you laugh and with some combat animations that are just awesome, and the first time you do a kill flourish with the hammer or sword its just beautiful.
The weapon evolution is brilliant in a word, the only problem is having to choose between your starting weapons whose appearance changes or your found and bought weapons which can be made more powerful, i felt that your starter weapons could have evolved in power rather than just appearance so you could stick with your favourite hammer or sword.
As im only half way through i cant comment on the overall story but i feel i have seen most of the varying gameplay elements and i believe that this game gives a solid, if not amazing performance.
