Fable 3 Review

After getting abut half way through the game i find myself both agreeing and disagreeing with Gamespots review of Fable. I agree the dog has is retarded, walking into tree, bushes, rocks and on one occasion himself as well as having no emotional connection as was well established in the second game. Five minutes at the start of the game of you as a teenager meeting the dog and possibly your partner from the first section of the game would have made a big difference.

I don't agree however that the the technical hiccups and the over simplified combat detract massively from the game, it is still an awesomely colourful world full of characters which make you laugh and with some combat animations that are just awesome, and the first time you do a kill flourish with the hammer or sword its just beautiful.

The weapon evolution is brilliant in a word, the only problem is having to choose between your starting weapons whose appearance changes or your found and bought weapons which can be made more powerful, i felt that your starter weapons could have evolved in power rather than just appearance so you could stick with your favourite hammer or sword.

As im only half way through i cant comment on the overall story but i feel i have seen most of the varying gameplay elements and i believe that this game gives a solid, if not amazing performance.

Fingers Crossed for Fable 3

Like many of my fellow gamers I have absorbed every piece of information I can about Fable 3, I loved the first, rather enjoyed the second and, if the the third is half of what it promises, will be again in love with Fable for the third installment. I know that Peter Molyneux (apologies for spelling if it's wrong) has the tendancy to oversell his games but he seems mostly down to earth with Fable 3 so let's hope that he delivers.

There are a number of points that I wanted to highlight in my blog;

The new fight system carries on the super awesome one button per combat style method (magic, melee, ranged) with a better level of flow as show in the wolf combat battle scene used in a number of videos shown here on gamespot, the ability to link in melee, magic and ranged combat rapidly means that combat can flow in a more melodramatic way.

The dog in Fable 2 was both one of the most amazing and irritating characters in the game, alternatively doing some very touching stuff and then barking at a chest sitting in the middle of the road. The continuation of the dog in Fable 3 will I hope be one of the important aspects of the new game.

The evolution of weapons in game, further develops the good and evil mechanic from fable 1 and 2 which developed between those games. I am looking forward to this evolution and cannot wait to see how it works in game in more detail then a bleeding sword or a glowing sword.

To close i just needed to write something about fable 3 to keep me going until the release on October 29th and i hope that someone will find my quick sum up of the interesting points useful.

P.s. LONG LIVE KING CHICKEN!!
