I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking foward to the Wii. I still have a NES and even a N64 (just for Goldeneye), however since then Nintendo has done very little to keep my interest. Mario Party has its charm, but even that was not enough for me to dish out the cash. And while I think New Super Mario Brothers is a very entertaining game for the DS, I still find myself regretful for spending the (then) $150 on the system. Now to be fair, I can't name a single game that the Wii is going to have for launch, but when I heard old NES and SNES games will be available to download (even for a price) I instantly fell in love. I don't understand what it is with the new Nintendo titles, but nothing Nintendo has done lately seems to move me like their orgional did and still do. Maybe it's just simple nostalgia. But my collection and wishlist is full of new games for the PS2/3, 360, and PC...all games I play often and look foward to spending many hours on, but I can't figure out if Nintendo has lost it's ability to churn out appetizing titles en masse or if I've simply grown out of their target audience.
But I'm sure this is what Nintendo had in mind with their new system: keep the games coming for the younger crowd and let the older generation (who by now has extra money to spend) reminiscence in Nintendo's 8-bit glory days.
Now I'm hoping you won't have to pay out your ear for the old titles...
