Hooligans and White Polyester Pants

The title pretty much sums up my trip to the cape. I left work at noon on Friday to give myself plenty of time to pack and drive to Cotuit. I wasn't sure how long the drive would be since I had never driven there before but apparently I overestimated because I got there about a half hour quicker than I thought I would. I went to my best friend Nikki's house to spend the weekend with her and her family as well as her fiance Kevin who is my other best friend - they are the best so I'm very excited that they are getting married. If they ever had broken up I couldn't have chosen sides. We went out for Mexican food which is always delicious in my opinion. :) I had a chimichanga which is a very fun word to say...and washed it down with a couple of these

After dinner we dropped off Kevin and Nikki and I went to the Moe concert. Her dad laughed at us for being so overdressed since the show is so full of hippies and we just looked pretty regular but we weren't going to put on a hippie costume to fit in - even though her dad was happy to offer some of his finer grateful dead gear. :P I have seen Moe before and there is usually a lot of people smoking pot and stuff, which I expected since they're a jam band, but this crowd was kind of scary. There were a lot of people there that must have done some crazy drugs. About halfway through the show the ushers came by and kicked the kids who were sitting next to us out of our section - it turned out they weren't in the right seats. (We had really good seats in the 5th row) I had wished they just let them stay though because the people who really had the tickets next to us were really sketchy looking. There were 3 of them despite there only being 2 seats. 2 guys and a girl. The girl looked like she was drugged out of her mind. One of the guys was holding her up because she couldn't stand, her neck was tilted all the way back because she couldn't support her own head and she had a permanent grin/glazed over look. I'm not sure if she had been slipped something or if she was on heroine (she looked skinny like a crack whore or something) but she was completely incapacitated. The guy holding her up looked like he belonged on Cops and the other guy with them was just gigantic. I turned to Nikki and said it was a good time to go check out the band t-shirts. We never went back to our seats and it was a good decision I think. The weather was great so we just stood at the opening to the melody tent and watched from there. We stayed for the whole show except the encore because we wanted to get a jump on the traffic since everyone but us seemed to be drunk...like way too drunk to drive but they were going to anyway. As we were leaving there was this guy in front of us just stumbling drunkenly towards the parking lot. A cop came walking next to us and looked at the guy, then looked at me and my friend and said "think he's gonna make it?" We just laughed and said "nope, you're gonna get there first." The drunk guy kind of fell into a tree and started like he was just going to stand there and relieve himself when the cop grabbed him and asked him what he was doing. Like an idiot he said something about going home, as if he was about to go drive. The cop cuffed him and arrested him right there!

Saturday was just a day to relax. We went into Hyannis and checked out this cool record store. I have a tough time finding good vinyl so I was stoked to find this store. I picked up 6 records, 5 used cl@ssic rock and 1 new punk album. They had a great selection so I was able to get Cream, Boston, Bob Seger, Bad Company, Dave Mason and The Descendents all for 40 bucks. We had lunch outdoors at one of the little restaurants on Main street then headed back to the house to go swimming. We didn't really feel like going out and spending a bunch of money at night so we just rented a movie. We saw "Michael Clayton" with George Clooney. It was pretty good but confusing at first, for a while I didn't understand what was going on because there were so many disjointed plot points and evrything seemed to be out of order. Once it finally came together I liked it but I would probably need to watch it again to catch stuff I missed the first time.

On the TV front:

I started watching Season 1 of Bones - I had always wanted to see that show. I love David Boreanaz. I really like it so far, I have a lot of catching up to do. I'm also watching Last Comic Standing and The Next Food Network Star, although I DVRed that so I have to catch up tonight. Mad Men just came out on DVD so I think I'm going to watch that soon too so I can catch up before the next season. Big Brother 10 premiered last night so I'm watching that now too. (Please don't throw garbage at me) I always watch bad tv in the summer it seems. I already can't stand a couple of the people after just one episode - Renny and Jessie are very annoying.

Books:

I'm still finishing up Richard Matheson's "I am Legend" collection. I just have 2 short stories left so I'll finish up tonight most likely. My new book from amazon just came so I'm excited to start reading it. Upon Tom's (Count Chocula) advice, I purchased Bill Bryson's "A Walk in the Woods."

My fantasy baseball team picked up another 2 wins so I improved to 18-12, just 1 game out of first place. Woo hoo! The All-Star game is tomorrow and the home run derby is tomorrow. I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Hopefully the week will go by fast. :)
