My Top 10 Favorite FPS Games

You all probably know, Im a huge FPS fan, ive played alot, here are the 10 FPS games that I feel are the greatest.

10. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

This game is the game that really got me hooked on online multiplayer games. I remember beating the campaign several times, and although short, it was action packed and extremely cinematic, I was close to selling it because I didnt really think that I would play it, then I realized that I had never even touched the online mode, I tried it, and stayed up till 4 AM playing. I have so many nostalgic memories playing this game with friends, meeting new people, and several "Awww Snap" moments. As for Modern Warfare 2, well, not so much.

9. Halo 3

The Halo series has always been one of my favorites, it has action and an awesome action hero that I unfortunetly forgot to mention in my "Top 10 Best Gaming Heroes" List, but oh well. Halo 3 had a great campaign that continued the epic story of Master Chief, Cortana, Chief Johnson and several others. While it may not be the most genius or most brilliant story ive ever seen, it definitely did present it excellently. Halo 3's brilliance didnt end in the campaign, like COD4 it brought multiplayer that made the game worth keeping. Ive had so many awesome memories of this games online, I know I will end up repeating what I said about COD4, so I wont bother repeating myself.

8. Counterstrike

5 years and I still havent gotten tired of this game! I started playing CS when I was 10 years old, it was my very first online shooter and 5 years later, well, I still love this game to death! If I ever make a list of 10 most nostalgic games for me, this would definitely be in the top 3. Oh the countless late Saturday nights I stayed up with this game and a 6 pack of Red Bull!

7. Portal

Im not all that sure if this counts since its technically a puzzle game, but then again, it takes place in the First Person view and you do shoot! :P Anyways, Portal is one of the most genre and mind bending games Ive ever played. I must have beaten this game about 10 times, and I still get stumped on a couple test chambers every now and then. Portal also features some of the wittiest and comedic dialog ive ever heard in a game, which to me is a huge bonus, its a dark, disturbing, and confusing as hell game, and if you have not played it, well then.....WHAT THE HELL!!!

6. Deus EX

I do not have much to say about the game itself that has not been said in previous reviews, except, if you have not played this game and like FPS or RPG games at all - Stop what you are doing and obtain it somehow. This is truly a masterpiece in the realm of video games and anyone should have the privilege of enjoying this ****c.

5. System Shock 2

System Shock 2 has undoubtedly one of the greatest blends of RPG, FPS, Action Adventure, and Survival Horror, in fact its the only game I know of to combine all those :P Its creepy atmosphere, near perfect controls, and a creepy and intimidating villain that is Shodan, System Shock 2 is a must have for all those who appreciate something new.

4. Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo Combat Evolved is one of those games that will always be remembered as a major cultural phenomenon. Its this generations Star Wars. It will be one of those games that you can play 50 times and still notice something new, something you have never seen before, its innovative use of the Armour Shield, which not only reduced player frustration, but is commonly used in many modern FPS games, It single handedly made the Xbox worth having, and if one game can have so much of an impact on one console, then you know its good.

TOP 3 WOOOOOOOOOOO!!

3. DOOM

The game that single handedly popularized the FPS genre. Without Doom, nearly all of the games on this list would not be here. Its almost 20 years old and it still stuns me on how amazing it was, and this was 1993. I often ponder on what it was like to be a gamer from the early 90s who was so used to beat em ups and platformers to experience a game like Doom, their heads must have exploded :|.......okay maybe not that extreme but you can kinda see where Im getting at. I first played Doom at the age of 5 on the SNES, back then it was the only gaming system I had, and out of the 5 games we had for it, Doom was the one that I was constantly playing.

2. Half Life 2 (Along with Ep. One and Two)

I remember playing Half Life 2 and being amazed at how much diversity in the environments there was. It was very apparent that Valve put alot of effort and love into this game, this is a game that also blends brilliant but simple puzzles into fast paced and engaging combat, Half Life 2 is and forever will be one of my favorite games of all time

1. Half Life

Oh what, you really didnt see that coming? Half Life is just plain amazing!!! You are in the shoes of Gordon Freeman, and you are definitely the right man in the wrong place at the wrong time. When an experiment goes tragically wrong, hordes of aliens from another Dimension come in and start killing everyone in sight, and not only does Gordon have aliens trying to kill him, but he has the US Military hunting him down to silence him (As if he wasnt silent already) When I first played Half Life I played it for 5 hours straight (The most ive ever spent playing a video game consecutively) I just could not get enough! The silence of Gordon Freeman not only makes you feel like your the hero, but strangely, I think it gives him more personality than most characters that do speak. If anyone has not played Half Life, than your life as a gamer is no where near complete, Half Life- My all time favorite FPS
