Ithink those spec. enough for today games, but isn't perfectly yet, you can use 8800series to boost performance,thatGPU's can take all max required game + it's support directX 10

NVIDIA Driver is suck, driver for 8series not stable yet, i often get crash... so i think ATI driver is more stable

I think you should upgrade mobo, 'n buy a higher speed ram (factory OC's), why not buy AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ that should make video card runnin at max performance
