yeah... that article isnt bias at ALL */sarcasm*. the guy says that WoW "artistically" looks better than WAR, which im sorry, for anyone that has actually played the game is a complete farce. better textures, better models, better armor and weapon designs... the list goes on folks. WAR looks better than WoW in just about every way. i give a slight edge to WoW in animations, but not a huge one.
second, the guy practically comes out and says he thinks WoWs PVP is better than WARs... seriously, what? WoWs PVP is the laughing stock of the MMO community, it is probably one of the worst systems to be implemented in an MMO as it is just ANOTHER grind, with no real benefit.
While i agree that certain aspects of WoWs PVE is better than WAR, i do not agree that overall WoWs PVE is better. the writer says WoWs PVE is more addicting.... ok if by addicting you mean mindless grinding of rep and dungeons for rewards that seem barely worth the effort then yes, WoW has better PVE. WAR does not have rep grinding, nor does it have dungeon grinding, nor does it really have any "grinding" at all really, short of realm points which you get from playing in AWESOME pvp.
the jist of this is.... that article is bias in the extreme, and WoWs formula is wearing out its welcome. why do you think EA projects to sell 650K copies of their game in 13 days? people are looking for something new and different, and MANY MMO players are looking for a PVP focused, more gritty experience. WAR has all of the PVE WoW has (quests, dungeons, group quests, public quests.... on and on), plus an amazing PVP system.
WAR is definitely poised to take a good size chunk out of the WoW population. it has a far greater chance than age of conan ever did. the two games cannot even be compaired. WAR is based on a proven company backed by EA with unlimited resources, has solid game ideas, PLENTY of content for all levels, and some genuinely new things to offer. age of conan had none of that, and it was obvious after about lvl 50.
trust the beta testers that have been around for a year now... when we say WAR has what it takes to deliver a high caliber MMO experience, we know what we are talking about.
I'm going to have to disagree about the graphics of WAR being better than WoW. I play WoW, and I played the beta of WAR. WAR's graphics aren't terrible, but very bland and uninspired. Muddy textures, etc. Not saying WoW is a graphic masterpiece, but the world is colorful and interesting. Character models in WAR are also not that great. Dark Elf Sorceror... why does my male sorceror start in a pink dress? lol. And I don't really care for just about any of the character models for Order. Thank god I plan on being a Goblin Squig Herder.
my response is.... its beta... its beta... and its beta. when did you play the beta as well, because i can log in right now and make a male sorc and he does not start in a pink dress.
the textures in WAR are far superior to WoW, the models have more polygons, there are ACTUAL shadows, characters have... you know.... CHARACTER to them (facial expressions, snears, very different looks...)
sorry, but taking one look at a screenshot shows that WAR has superior visual design. especially at this stage in the beta.
It seems like you might be confused about art design and graphics, although WAR has a definite graphic edge to WOW, the art design is pretty bland from what I have seen. The art design and whole layout is amazing in WoW. I remember when I first got to outlands and looked at the sky, **** was amazing. I still have a copy pre ordered of WAR though I am looking forward to trying out something new.
Diablo 2 or Mass Effect
I honestly thought mass effect was one the most amazing game experiences I have had
