Early E3 Expectations-Hardware Segment

My early E3 Expectations are broken into three parts: Hardware, Games and Companies. This is the first of the three. Check out my video blog as wel

Hardware:

Playstation 3 and PSP:

Playstation 3:

The Playstation 3 has a lot in store for it just for its system itself besides the games coming out in the fall. Here is a list of things I am looking for in the E3 Expo.

Playstation 3 Price Cut-We all know that Sony has dropped the 20 GB system already, and we know they will have to do something to sell more units. (They are really behind Nintendo and Microsoft at this point)

It has been rumored that Sony will come out with an 80gb hard drive system which makes since considering they ousted the lower end version.

The missing dual shock vibration that has been missing is more of a problem than Sony had anticipated. At first they blamed that they could not blend both the Sixaxis motion control and the vibration. We all know this to be fake considering Nintendo has implemented sound, vibration and motion control in their remote. Now that Sony has settled I see them showing off their new system and controller this year. (Or so I hope!)

Finally I see Sony showing off more of their new program called "Home" I see many advantages and disadvantages with this new program. I cannot say much considering much has not been reviled. But I look forward to what Sony has to say in the coming months.

Playstation Portable:

This fall is going to be a big one for the PSP and Sony if they implement many things that have been rumored for a long time.

Firstly is the redesign of the PSP. It has been said that the newer version is going to be lighter and smaller, but keep the same screen size. I don't know how they are going to pull this off, but I hope to hear more soon.

One has to consider if Sony will have another price drop from 169.99 to even cheaper. Nintendo has their unit at 129.99 and it is selling like crazy. I mean come on Sony, thirty bucks-give me a break!

One thing is for certain, Sony has to make up for the lost sales with a price difference and games. We all know that the movies did not work on the system, but there are many games coming up soon that look very promising. (I can see a bundle in the future with God of War. I sure hope so; it would make me buy one!)

Nintendo Wii:

There is not much so say about Nintendo right now in the way of system design or change in price. The price is great and the system is right on the money. They are already behind on their production so we know they will not be coming out with more colored wii's for a while. There are only three main things that I can see for Nintendo in the future for their system:

Nintendo needs to show off their Internet gaming capability. Nintendo already has the virtual counsel, weather channel and more. But they are lacking in the gaming community. Nintendo has already stated that Mario Strikers Charged, Pokemon and many more will be Internet capable in the future. But what we don't know is what games will be Internet capable and how they will perform over the Internet compared to PC, X Box or Playstation.

Secondly I wonder when Nintendo will show off their DS to Wii connectivity. We know that Pokemon will show this off, but I want to see it implemented in other games. We have seen a demo that Sony held with the PSP performing with the PS3 with Gran Turismo.

Thirdly it will be interesting to see when Nintendo released some new titles on the virtual counsel. We know that they are having new systems such as the NeoGeo join the downloadable service. However it is unknown what they will release outside of Japan.

Microsoft Xbox 360:

There is not much so say about Microsoft at the present time other than the games that they plan to come out with soon. They have already released the Elite system, dropped the price of the steering wheel, and have started asking gamers what they want on the Live Arcade. We will just have to wait and see how the exclusive titles such as Bioshock and Halo 3 will turn out in August and September to name a few.
