I'm personally tired of anti-religion games. I'm not saying they're bad altogether, but the ones these days are executed too poorly. Xenogears was a kick in the cross when it first came out and had me questioning reality for a while. Grandia II is when I truly grasped the gravity of the issue and its awesomeness. After that, more and more people tried to pull it off and failed horribly. One of the lesser travesties was Tales of Symphonia, with every plot twist flattened out by the hammer of foreshadowing. Baten Kaitos had a true plot twist, and I didn't even see it coming. The bonus here is that it continued the twist with ferocity, unlike the subject matter here: "Oh, it was all fake?....Oh well....".
My final remark is this: If you're just going to screw it up, don't do it at all. If you can't floor the audience, don't take the floor.
