Top 5 Video Games That Could Easily Be Turned Into Movies

It's a fact that video games and movies don't mix. Whether it's a video game based off of a movie, or a movie based off of a video game, the two just can't seem to blend. However, there are 5 games that Hollywood has ignored that could very easily be turned into succesful films.

#5:

Call of Duty: World At War

I know it's hard to believe that a first person shooter could be turned into a movie. But if there is any first person shooter that should be turned into a movie, this is easily the best choice. The way that the two campaigns are told and visualized are very cinematic and very mature. It's not just an onslaught of shoot 'em up missions like Battlefield games and to be honest, most Call of Duty games. It's a very different and much more story driven kind of first person shooter. And if put into the right hands (preferably those of Steven Speilberg or Tom Hanks) it could very well be a sucessful movie.

Grand Theft Auto IV / Red Dead Redemption

Technically I'm cheating on this one, but in terms of how cinematic they are, and how they could be made into movies, it's hard to seperate the two. Because both would be epics considering how long the games already are, and the fact that the games are mainly known for their free roaming, and let's face it, it would be a never ending movie if that were the case. But actually, these two games both have very film friendlyplots. One's about an immigrant making his way up the crime ladder in a metropolis, the other is about a reformed outlaw in the dying days of the old west, tracking down his former gang members. Those both sound like movie plots to me.

#3:

Heavy Rain

To be honest, I have yet to play Heavy Rain. But just judging by the synopsis and the cutscenes that I've seen, this could very easily be a movie. It's basically a modern noir, which is a rare treat these days. The only problem that this movie would have is the fact that the game has alternate endings. But here's how you can solve that, do an online poll of the alternate endings, and whichever one most people got, that's what you use in the movie. Besides that, Heavy Rain really is perfect for film. You wouldn't need a big budget, the story is already laid out for you, and would almost certainly rake in a lot of money.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater

There have been rumors of a Metal Gear Solid movie floating around for a while now. But for the time being, it's been called off. If you're going to make a movie out of Metal Gear Solid, Snake Eater is the only choice. First of all, it's the chronological beginning of the Metal Gear timeline.Second, thisgame is no where near as confusing as the others. In Snake Eater, everything is explained in an understandable way. There's only one mild drawback to this being a movie, and that'sthat it would be really long. But it does have a lot of stuff that could be cut.The entire Metal Gear Solid series ispretty much a movie as it is. So if you're going to make afilm out of it, pick the one that the general public will understand and not getmind boggled by.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Are you surprised? To me, Uncharted could very easily be a big summer blockbuster. Now I'm not saying that it would be the best overall film. I'm saying that if you want to make a video game movie, this is the best source material for one. It has enough qualities of an Indiana Jones movie for people to want to see it, and it has enough original qualities to be different from an Indiana Jones movie (unlike The Mummy). And it does something completely different with the myth of El Dorado, which could get the general public interested. And unlike with most video game movies, where you have to have somewhat ofan understanding of the source material, you could have never touched a video game controller in your life, and you could understand Uncharted. In terms of big summer blockbusters, you couldn't do much better than Uncharted as a video game movie,or just a regular movie.
