@RaveNRolla: "killing Joel and then making us understand why Abby did it and making her a likable character was a probably not an easy thing to do. it worked on me though."
I think this is the key word... How you see Abby in the end of the playthrough with her.
I loved the game and I had the same exact feelings you have. I started in on point of view and ended in the other side... That´s how you know the game worked or not for you.
@sippio: Maybe I didn't get right what you're saying but... that´s what I mean. No one knows what she is... Until further notice she is a normal girl for me. Sorry, I don´t hate muscular women, I accept women in all types and forms. :)
I know the impact she will have in the game, but how can I criticize without proper context? And context is not 30 minutes before or after, it´s how her story fits in the narrative.
It may fail? Maybe, I don't know, but I´ll give to one of the most trustiest developers I have (CDPR is the other), the benefit of the doubt...
@sippio: "So nothing can or will change you're mind.."
I believe the game is going to be awesome. I never said it will certainly be. So I'm on the side who believes this will end with me liking the game a lot...If the game doesn't delivers I'll be the first criticizing it. There is only one thing I will not do... to assume certainties of a game I didn't play it...
"The problem is why are you trying to change others minds who have a problem with especting established characters.."
The question is... are they not respecting established characters? So far no one knows besides the people who played the game...And what it is a respect for you may not be a disrespect for me, and vice versa....."
@HAWK9600: "it's brutal and bleak for the majority of it (which is what the trailers/gameplay reveals looked like to me) just makes it seem like something I wouldn't like to play."
Well... Congratulations... That is by far the best justification I have read to not buy this game. If is not for you in its essence better move on... I love his overall essence that´s why I was going to play it no matter the reviews...
@so_hai: I want them to be what they want to be. You have a ton of games who are crazy fun, one tries to be something different and everyone's goes crazy...
And this guy is just one reviewer... Nothing more, nothing less...
"I'm predicting an average user score for this game of around 6/10 due to a LOT of 1/10's and 10/10's."
In that we can both agree... That´s why I don't give a crap about other people feelings or understanding of such a complicated thing as a story. I love Memento, some people hate it, I deeply enjoyed Pulp Fiction, some people don´t.
I consider TLOU and The walking Dead episodes (first season) two narrative masterpieces... Some people hate those games... And I could go on forever.
This game is almost without a doubt a 10/10 in all aspects of the game... the only doubt is the narrative. We can debate if we like it or not, but as long is well written the reviewer should give it the right score without feelings.
But you know the funniest thing about all surrounding this game? Is that people who would probably love the most a "dark tale" are the ones that (in their own words) are not going to play the game... LOL
