I've been looking into picking up a bass. Any recommendations as to a decent starter?

Problem is... I don't know If I'm left or right handed when I play guitar. I mean, I write and eat left handed. but I throw and hammer and stuff with my right.

I'm pretty sure I'd be a left handed bassist... but I've learned to play guitar hero well right handed :?

My body confuzzles me :cry:

I'm going to my local guitar store to try out different bass' to see what I like.

Also, if anyone who reads this (which is probably nobody :?) What are some good songs to learn on the bass. I've never picked one up in my life, but I really like their sound.

So I went to a local Music store and looked around. The guy I talked to was really helpful :D

On the wall of Bass' ONE caught my eye. I think it looks sweet. Here's what it looks like:

Its an LTD D4. It'll run me about 400 itself :? They have a package deal for an extra 130 with an amp, cables, strap, and a lesson book/dvd.

The guy I talked to said that it was a really good choice, its not a beginner bass, but its not any top of the line signature bass. Should last me a good while.
