In this digital age we have less privacy than ever, and it's continuing to move in that direction. Being realistic, I understand that most people don't care that their cell phone, the internet, the government all collect their personal data, they have "nothing to hide", why should they care? I still don't think it's a good thing, and worth fighting against, even if it is a losing battle.
@mike468 Maybe Sony is guilty too, but at least they pretend to care about the customers. Microsoft just comes off as shady and anti-consumer with their "We know what's best for you, whether you like it or not" attitude. I'll take the lesser of 2 evils.
Why can't they just do the right thing and say "We will never profit from your personal information with or without your consent, we force you to look at McDonalds ads, even though you already pay for our gold service. We're not going to hide anything objectionable deep in a EULA that we know no one will read. We're gonna be the good guys!!"
I've installed things on my PC before, quickly going through the motions and clicking 'next', but now you gotta be careful, they are always trying to sneakily install some toolbar or something by having 'install this garbage spyware' checked by default.
@Lord3n common core, because 'one size fits all' government solutions have always worked great! :) Just when you thought our cost/benefit education ratio couldn't get any worse, the government will show us it can indeed be done.
