Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

One of the longest lasting and best FPS on the market. For only $15 dollars you can't miss out. The ability to make steam money through weapon skin drops is incredibly appealing, creating a feeling of gambling. I've made enough steam dollars on this game to buy other games. Besides the skin drops, the game is fun in general. Ranked matches are a lot like Search and Destroy in CoD (it's actually the other way around).

League of Legends

One of the first MOBA's to achieve a huge fan base, LoL offers a lot of strategy and team compositions. I'm not even sure of the number of playable champions, but it has to be over 100. Customizable "masteries" page allows you to tweak your champions stats and abilities, as well as a customizable "rune page" that tweaks your stats directly (attack speed runes, ability power runes, gold per second, etc). Runes are purchased with "Influence Points" (IP). You do not need to spend any money on this game whatsoever; you will just want to. The only reason to spend money is to purchase different skins to change the way your champion looks during a game. There are other things to purchase with Riot Points (RP), like champions and new rune pages, but you can already buy these with IP. be warned, games can easily last up to 45 minutes and can suck your life away. The community is to die for. Literally, you will want to shoot yourself once you realize how immature people who play this game are. It's loaded with trolls and kids who can't control their internet muscles. This does detract form its appeal but not enough for you to want to stomp those kids and talk right back to them :)

PlanetSide 2

The only mmofps that I've played. The scale of this game is immense and the learning curve is a little steep. It can be discouraging in the beginning when you get killed over and over again and can't figure out why you're dying so much. This is not a game to be played like call of duty or even battlefield. There is much more depth in the combat. The maps are huge and kind of overwhelming at first. I'm not going to lie I subscribe which makes it much easier to acquire guns and equipment, making it slightly pay to win, but you absolutely don't need to pay... it will just take a long time to get the things you want.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I own this on PC and 360, as well as all the updated content. I originally had it on 360 but wanted to try modding, so I purchased the bundle on steam during the holiday sale. The game was already incredibly immersive and addicting. Modding adds an overwhelming amount of replayability. I've sat for hours simply looking at mods I wanted to add to the game. There is a slight learning curve to modding. I recommend checking out nexus mod manager. First mods you want to download are SkyUI, Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE), and TES5Edit. The first two are required for most mods, SkyUI changing the inventory menu to a much more convenient version. I don't know a lot about SKSE but I do know it's required for most mods. TES5Edit allows you to clean your mods of "dirty" files, essentially deleting copy files that would cause a game crash. I recommend watching the tutorials on youtube, because a simple mistake can ruin your game.
