Believe it, because that´s exactly what sony did, once you corrupted the firmware in the internal memory, nothing works, i used another hd, and with it i could boot in safe mode, it doesn't work, it just doesn't restore the internal firmware, not even using a new hd formated by a ps# (my last idea/hope)

I tried both things:
1- With the original hard drive it just don´t go to recovery menu (safe mode) even doing the hold button thing to access it the ps3 go straight to the update installation screen, so the same error happens again and again.
2- Trying with another hard drive it opens the recovery menu, but none of the options works, the update firmware option ask for the pen drive but stays in please wait screen, maybe because this HD isn´t formatted by a PS3 system, its FAT32.
I have the same problem. It has nothing to do with the Internet Connection because ive unplug my wireless and the update still gives me a error code. If you cant contact SONY the only thing you can do is buy a new PS3 because your PS3 is useless now.-Hoax-
I of course couldn´t close my psn id account, If i contact sony after buying a new PS3 can they do it so i can use the same account with all my trophies at the new console?
Its your internet connection most likely.blabbyboy
What my internet connection has to do with this?
Yes, i had a corrupted download file, but it can happen with anyone.
I have the same problem. Sucks :(VinnoT
What did you do to solve it?
Hi, yesterday i was updating the firmware by a pendrive and at 69% i got the 80010006 error. After that nothing worked, when i turn on again it goes straight to the update installation screen and gets the same error. Even when i try to go to recovery menu it doesn't go there, it opens the update installation directly, so it´s impossible to use another source for the firmware file, probably the first one was corrupted and now i can't replace it.
Please how can i fix the issue? Is it possible to reinstall thh firmware ?
I live in Brazil and Sony here doesn't give support for playstation.
Thanks
Daniel
