So i wrote a Rainbow Six Vegas review, by looking at all the other player reviews on this site, mine was the only one comprehendable with good spelling and grammar. I gave it an honest review, 7.8 which I think is a good score for a decent single player, laggy and bad multiplayer game.
So some fanboy comes in, doesn't recommend it, and moves on. Maybe i should go and write a review for Twilight Princess and give it a 9.9 and see if the same thing happens.
My point is, no matter how competant you are at reviewing games, now matter how literate and intelligent you are, if you don't give someone's favourite game a 10/10 they will complain.
Maybe I should become a muppet like most of the other reviewers I've seen and give every game they play a 9/10 upwards. Maybe the game is not laggy in America, but in my country, it is laggy as hell, so I complain, and rightfully so.
It seems as though noone should bother writing a review on a game unless they're prepared to praise it to kingdom come. Even the personalities on this site like Jeff Gerstmann get insulted on other boards, most notably GameFAQS because they didn't give a certain game a high enough score. Remember the Twilight Princess incident? It got a very good score in an 8.8 and people still complained.
To sum it all up, why the hell bother writing reviews? I will continue to do it though because I have a strong opinion and I want to give people a different opinion from all the fanboys and praisers to people considering a purchase for a game.
Thanks for reading, feel free to comment, I do expect to get flamed so please go ahead because this is a video game message board and people commenting without flaming wouldn't be right.
