I've been visiting daily since the late-90s and have been a satisfied Total Access subscriber for the past 5 years, but my recurring subscription has now been cancelled. Several well-liked editors have moved on recently, and Gerstmann's loss may have been the final straw regardless of how it went down, but this management debacle made the decision to cancel very easy. As a freelance gaming journalist with hundreds of published articles/reviews/previews and past E3 access on my resume, I can only imagine how livid the rest of the respectable crew at GameSpot is right now. This site had something special for a very long time, but I simply can't support a company that places advertiser appeasement ahead of journalistic integrity.

Take care, Rich. You've done a great job hosting at Gamespot throughout your stay...it was nice to watch someone who obviously knew about and played games but still had some charisma and didn't overwhelm the senses with geekiness. Best of luck to you in wherever life leads.

I've owned nearly every major console and handheld since the Atari days, and bought far more games during each console generation than the average gamer, and lately it's been the same for me. I haven't purchased a game since the day Gears of War and Guitar Hero II were released, though I used to buy several dozen games at full price every year (I own 20+ Xbox 360 games, all purchased in the console's first year on the market). I have even worked as a journalist in the industry, attending the last couple of big E3 events prior to this year, but now I'm not employed with any industry affiliate and have found myself paying less attention to industry news in general.

Still, this upcoming holiday season has a few releases that I have been looking forward to for some time now, and I can't help but get excited over the likes of Halo 3, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Lost Odysseyand Crysis. However, though I have always bought a ton of games, the number of games that I actually complete is pretty low, so I'll likely end up buying every one of those titles and stop playing them after experiencing just a fraction of their content. That is exactly what I did throughout the last generation, as well...I purchased nearly every high-profile title on all 3 consoles, but quit playing most of them just a few hours in. Hell, even now, I own more than 25 games between my Xbox, 360, PS2 and GCN that I have not even tried yet, including some of the hottest titles of the generation.

Simply put, I need to win the lottery or something, so I can have the time to actually spend on gaming. I still count games as one of my hobbies, but it has honestly been 3 months or so since I last played a videogame outside of a social situation (Guitar Hero II).

Games have to change sometimes, man...just keep at it and don't give up so quickly. It really isn't a very difficult system to use, and after playing through some of the career challenges you'll have it down to a science. If there's anything worth complaining about in comparison to the current-gen versions, it's the small number of courses much more than the new putting system.

16 sq. miles of explorable space means you basically have a square that is 4 miles long on every side....sheesh, our schools suck.
