Advancing Towards Graduation

It has been quite a while since I last blogged about anything, so I thought that I would offer some input about my status in university for those interested in reading about it.

In January, I transferred to university, and I am about 16 months away from graduating with a bachelor of science degree. My major remains computer science. I am also working towards some certifications. When I have free time, I am studying Mandarin. Since my academic program is new at my university, which is accredited, I will be working on my general education courses until my final semester. Most of my remaining courses are major requirements; data structures and algorithms, networks and telecommunication concepts, and mobile computing are a few of them. One course that I expect shall be an invigorating challenge is calculus III. While I liked mathematics since elementary school, after studying differential and integral calculus, I am fascinated by it even more. Computer Science is my top interest, but math is second followed by physics.

The process of struggling through several dozen tough mathematics exercises, then doing well on a quiz about them is a fulfilling experience. That increases understanding, and recognizing growth the next review session is a fun feeling. This applies to other subjects that I am learning as well.

Besides that, I have been studying extra-curricular courses in addition to what has already been mentioned. Coursera has been a great resource for me to learn a variety of subjects as has edX. That said, I intend to specialize in computer science, so hopefully I will earn an M.S. in CS in a few years. My interest is in theory, but advances in machine learning are promising like how computer science, in general, benefits other fields with it.
