I am not sure exactly how but I got the internet to Ubuntu running on my PS3 this evening. I read somewhere online a guy who had the same problem- he just unplugged his PS3-router-modem and let it all sit for about a minute-plugged it all back in and it worked. So I thought I would do one at a time and I started with my PS3. The only steps I took were to turn the PS3 off- (Rear switch) for about a minute, powered it back on enabled both the modom (out in fake number ect...) and the wireless setting- went into the network administration tool (I think it's what it's called) and made sure to select eth0 on the drop down for the network card- tested google and it was working. Don't know what else to tell ya other than to tweak with the setting a bit more and you will get it to work. Now the next hurdle is trying to find a friggin Flash player that will work on it now...:(
Over the weekend I have installed Ubuntu 7.10 on my 80 gig PS3 as well and I am also unable to access the internet. I have been trollling a lot on the internet not finding any one specific fix for this issue. I will post if I find anything. Good luck to you. PS3 handle: Tacoloft
OK, first of all Microsoft has consistently released a new list of BC games approx. every 4 months since the 360 was released. I have not read anywhere from any reliable source that MS has abandoned thier goal to have every original xbox game BC with the 360. The only time I read something of BC abandonment are in forums with no links or proof to back up claims. (If this is a fact please post a link or reference)
I also would like to see the other 2 Prince of Persia games and Deus Ex- Invisible War in the next release. I also have a hankering for Action RPG's to be BC like X-Men Legends 1&2, Baldures Gate- Dark alliance, The Bard's Tale, D&D-Heroes, Gaultlet-Dark Legacy, ect...
I have the GOTY version of Morrowind and have to say it looks ALOT better on the 360 running in BC mode than on the original XBOX probably more or less because of the great GPU in the 360. I have played ~ 10+ hours of Morrowind and have had no problems with it. The load times are a bit faster (not a lot) but still faster. Morrowind is a great game, and almost a steal ~$5at any used game store. I still own quite a few original titles I would like to see released in the next backwards comp. update.
