The next The Elder Scrolls V teased in the novel
by brian_13un on Comments
Good news for fans of the Elder Scrolls game series comes from, of all places, the latest Elder Scrolls novel. The novel, The Elder Scrolls: Infernal City, written by Greg Keyes was added to the Waterstones site recently.
The blurb for the novel (now since changed), gave a very interesting glimpse into the ongoing story of Tamriel.
A novel that takes places forty-five years after the Oblivion Crisis, which is the story of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game and the expansion pack Shivering Isles. It partly bridges the gap for the next game, which is set 200 years after the Oblivion crisis.
However, the current book blurb reads:
Four decades after the Oblivion Crisis, Tamriel is threatened anew by an ancient and all-consuming evil. It is Umbriel, a floating city that casts a terrifying shadow - for wherever it falls, people die and rise again. And it is in Umbriel's shadow that a great adventure begins, and a group of unlikely heroes meet. A legendary prince with a secret.
There do seem to be a number of notable discrepancies between the old blurb and the new, namely the time period and the casual removal of the mention of the next game in the series.
Bethesda has remained tight-lipped when it comes to the next chapter in The Elder Scrolls. From stating that no plans were in the works yet for the next TES title to rumors that the next TES title would be an MMO, the future of The Elder Scrolls will continue to remain a mystery for a little longer.
