As far as BR disc games go:
Warhawk is awesome for multi-player. Heavenly Sword is great if you got HDTV (if even if ya don't but love good storytelling and fun gameplay). Resistance is a great shooter (single or multi- player, co-op). Some might argue Ratchet and Clank will be the PS3's first true system-seller (It will be awesome). Motorstorm is a solid racer (sadly, online is the only way to race a friend). Virtua Fighter 5 is great, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is just as good and less than half the price (DLable game). Oblivion has sold well (on 2 consoles), if that's your thing (not mine, personally).
I've had similar experiences at 3 of the 4 GS locations closest to my home. One location announced to a storeful of customers that "PS3 is already dead" (like 4-5 months ago). Another location insulted me by saying "your system sucks" when asking about the Pelican controller adaptor's range of compatibility w/ GH controllers. It's one thing to give advice, it's completely another when fanboyism gets in the way of the facts.
As much as I enjoy an intelligent debate over "system dominance", I shouldn't expect it (or smack-talking, for that manner) from a cashier at GS(or anyplace else). I consider myself very well-informed on games and hardware, so I simply go to GameCrazy - it's a bit outta the way, but I don't get "griefed" for being happy with my PS3 purchase.
Such businesses DO NOT DESERVE my business.
I'm not a huge fan of the FPS genre, but when I do purchase one I look for something that sets it apart from the conventional military-themed shooter. The Darkness, although not the greatest game, is one of my favorite comics. Bioshock is amazing in every regard, but the whole underwater city thing intrigues me. Resistance is cool, because it rewrites history (alien swarm overtakes Russia and Europe - no WW II).
1.93 was difficult to complete for many. Your only options are to keep trying, or save it to CD, DVD, or memory stick.
But let's also remember that the average console owner probably buys a maximum of 3 games a year through that system's life cycle. For those consumers, I would say 40gb is perfectly manageable.
The 40gb unit will sell, and cause the other units to sell, too, as people seek out the backwards-compatible SKUs. All in all, the consumer wins because so many of our fellow gamers have been waiting for a (slightly more) cost-friendly PS3. The flood of games is nearly upon us.
[QUOTE="The_Gunslinger_"]You know I rarely see video game ads on tv except for specialized slots like adult swim. I think most video game ads I see are really thanks to video game sites like this one. the psn ones are nice because theyre 1080Seriously, the best ads and/or videos are on the Playstation Network. Put them on TV for god's sake!
ynfive
Right on. I love my HDTV and PS3 combo - as do most of my friends and family.
But, I agree that Sony needs to focus a little more capital into advertising, reach a few more people going into the holiday season. Regardless, the $400 unit is gonna move units - all units, too, as people scramble to snatch up BC units.
[QUOTE="StrayMBlasTER"]i feel ya buddy, this delay burns my arse, funny thing today Game Stop called me today to report the orange will be available tommorrow, but i pre-ordered the ps3 version!!!!lolPSRerony
that must have been painful
 So true (the game looks like a blast and a bargain). But I prolly woulda laughed and then quickly pointed out the error, as I'm fond of doing with GameStop employees. Seriously - how do you work around ALL systems and games (sounds like heaven) and be so misinformed?
