Online gameplay union

Why should some games lag in multiplayer far more than others? The big games industries have got the technicalities of it all locked down pretty well, and I think that information should be shared. There should be an Online Gameplay Union that figures out the best and most effective way of getting good quality action online. Then games companies can hire them to implement that into their games and help all games play well online. That's my bright idea.

The new GameSpot!

Unlike other website updates like Twitter and Facebook, this one doesn't suck. Inevitably there will be things that people miss about the old site, but the new design is immediately recognised as better, and that's impressive. It looks cleaner, faster and easier to surf! Critics to the new look will quickly fade ... it looks much better. Well done GameSpot.

New forum topic to enhance GameSpot

So I've started a new topic about the way GameSpot list their games:http://l.gamespot.com/fYGk2U

And it goes a little something like this:Games should be listed on relevant platforms like: PS3, Xbox 360 | Action ... not as seperate games, as they currently are. If they did this (grouped platforms), we wouldn't see the same game twice in top ten's, like we do now:

  1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (PC| Action)
  2. Super Meat Boy (PC| Action)
  3. Super Meat Boy (Xbox 360| Action)
  4. Halo: Reach (Xbox 360| Action)
  5. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC| Strategy)
  6. Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360| Action)
  7. Red Dead Redemption (PS3| Action)
  8. Portal 2(Xbox 360| Action)
  9. Portal 2(PS3 | Action)
  10. Portal 2(PC | Action)

See the duplicates in bold!? They've listed just six games in their top ten. Not sure how this carries over for user-reviews, but game reviews should apply to the game, not to the game on platform A or B. Or perhaps just enhance the listings, like such:

  1. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (PC| Action)
  2. Super Meat Boy (PC, Xbox 360 | Action)
  3. Halo: Reach (Xbox 360| Action)
  4. Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC| Strategy)
  5. Red Dead Redemption (Xbox 360, PS3 | Action)
  6. Portal 2(Xbox 360, PS3, PC | Action)

Follow this topic to make sure it gets carried through! (If you agree ...)

Finally, game review eligible!

I must admit I haven't been waiting that long to be a Mediator, but still. This is exciting, isn't it? First day on the job, I've written three reviews. I've tried to make these reviews brutally honest and worth reading. Please let me share with you the excerpts, if you like, of the reviews I've written: HOUR OF VICTORY: Poor effort. This game tried to grab a share of the popular FPS market. Instead, they shat themselves. GEARS OF WAR 2: Epic games shat themselves with this release, destroying almost everything fans loved about Gears of War. In a big way. SKATE: Skate has blown the Tony Hawks series right away with sharp and outstanding controls better suited to a skating game.

Journeyman isn't good enough.

Perhaps patience is the key ... but I real want to be on level three on GameSpot! There are no two ways about it. It seems like everything I want to do is locked for the legends who have made it to level 3. Write reviews, comment on stuff. Here I come. Guess I just need to keep using GameSpot which is NO hassle, I must admit. My only criticism of GameSpot is that it was swallowed up by CNET, but we can let that slip, can't we? One final note: I want to see more stuff like Heroes vs Villians playoffs that users vote on. That was bloody well awesome. Cheers!

Sob story: NBA Elite

EA announced on May 26, 2010 that the series would be renamed NBA Elite for its 2011 edition. The release of NBA Elite 11 was delayed for extra time in development because of "concerns about gameplay polish," and was eventually canceled on November 2, 2010. In its place, EA is updating the rosters of NBA Live 10 to reflect those of the 2010-2011 NBA Season free of charge. Additionally, EA will provide free daily Dynamic DNA updates for NBA Live 10, daily, for the entire 2010-2011 NBA Season. It has been announced that the series will resume development, although the game will not be released until the 2012-2013 season.
