I'd buy MGS4 and GTA4 right off the bat, toss in some Fallout 3, killzone 2 and COD WAW and you should be great bra.

There is a decent Lord of the rings stratagy game, can't remember the title. You can never go wrong with cOd : wAw ...

You hit a dead carcass 68 times after it was dead and condemned 2 the game is messed up??? Pretty ironic huh? Oh and manhunt 2 is much more gruesome but who cares? Should console owners really have to fear their product failing? It's a pretty expensive system, I had my first 360 for about a year.. then ironically when I bought my first hd tv my xbox froze on my other analog shortly before i'd intended on trying out the hd experience. I ended up buying a ps3 and enjoying it immensely, (before you slam me I own all consoles) MS really put me off with hardware failures. It's happened to all my friends, I do like certain games on the xbox more than ps3 like fallout and deadspace.. I ended up getting another xbox from the manufacterer, it was a crappy refurb in worse condition than the xbox that red ringed, in fear of another RROD I traded it up for an elite. I haven't had any probs other than the occasional fallout freeze, still.. I hate the fact that I had to pay that much more just to get something that wouldn't break. It's not an uncommon problem, for those on the thread who have doubted they just have to read the admitted 30% failure rate. A reminder thats the ADMITTED failure rate, it's appauling. Even when they added an hdmi to normal consoles they didn't do much to ensure RROD wouldn't happen, keeping in mind the RROD isn't the only hardware failure the system has. In the meantime my wii and ps3 haven't failed once.. and I don't have to worry about my expensive purchase being compromised.

It won't be generating too much heat on standby if at all. I'd make sure whatever you put on it breathes just for good measure.. and make sure it isn't black.

If you wanna be super safe just keep it away from the fan system, it really won't make too much difference.. having it in the sun is only really bad if you have poor ventalation and it's seriously hot and you've been playing the ps3 for awhile. I haven't heard of too many ps3's overheating..
