WHILE I know nothing about this situation per se, it's common knowledge amongst political thinkers, that governments need catalytic events to occur in order for the citizens in great numbers to agree to bold new action. Though Rosevelt was inclined to enter WWII brfore Pearl Harber, it took Pearl Harbor for him to feel enabled to do it

Woodrow Wilson, though president of a supposedly neutral country during WWI,clearly baited the Gemans into an "open sea" confrontation to propell America into that war.Of course, back then, the precident had always been to stay out of the constant European back and forth fighting, so this was a major readjustment of our political stance in the world, and the very reason that WWI was , indeed, a world war .

There are enough ppl out there, who believe that the ends justifies the means in all walks of life, so who's to say what our giovernment is capable of!In reality, the US has been spoiled,Russia lost 20 million ppl in WWII,what did we lose, 100,000?

\Not much of a sacrifice, relatively speaking; so we had 3000 ppl die in 2001.Is the devastation that we've heaped on Iraq and Afghanistan sufficient payback? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzironic, the only country to have used nucleur weapons on another country in the past is having a national debate about whether Iran can be trusted with nucleur weapons and if we shoulkd take preemptive actions to keep that from happening. Finally, the only thing that matters is what ppl think is true, not what is true.We all think that911 was caused by Arab terrorists but, who knows, maybe they were just the fall guys
