by bureksasutlijom on Comments
So,after a day of rest,I'm finally at full physical strenght, and at full mental capacities to write what happened in Zadar.I 'll use a form of a timetable to make look as it makes sense.
DAY I
06:00 Wake-up.Brush teeth and what else you have to do in the bathroom
06:30 The start. We began our journey from Zenica. It should take us some 6 hours to get to Zadar, which is some 750+ km away from Zenica,at the Croatian coast.I'm riding with Orhan and Dzeno.Nice kids ( I say kids since they're 3 years younger then me)
07:00 Got to Vitez. So far so good.
08:00 Bugojno.Feel a little ill.
09:00 Komar mountain.Had to stop.My stomach hurts.Almost vomited
10:00 Suica.Finally had something to eat.Fell great.
10:30 The Bosnian-Croatian border.Things go without any problems.
11:00 Split.Not anything more.
12:00 Finaly there.Feel tired.Luckily we didn't have a game that day.
14:00 Lunch.
16:00 Zzzzzzzzzz.
19:00 We go out.A nice 4 hours of chillin' at the Old Town of Zadar.
23:00 Sleep.Big game(s) tomorrow.
DAY II
06:00 Uaaagh!Good Morning!
07:30 Breakfast.Tost,nothing special.
09:30 GAME I : KK Kengur (Zenica BIH) - KK Vajda (Cakovec CRO) 96:63
1st Q: Our team starts slow,and Vajda score a few back-to-back 3 pointers, and lead us 8:9.Time out.After it,we shift into second gear.We race to a 20 point lead.
2nd Q: Jawn.We just keep it tight at the back and get our lead even into the 40 points mark.
3rd Q: Vajda get some points back, but not too many.A 30 point lead is still enough.
4th Q: Another lame one.It ended at 33 point.
My contribution: 1 Foul,12 points and 5 rebounds in cca 18 min of play.
12:00 Feel a little tired, but happy.Lunch.Next game is supoused to be hard.We play the champion of Macedonia, KK Playmaker Skoplje.
13:30 GAME II : KK Playmaker (Skoplje MAK) - KK Kengur (Zenica BIH) 50:70
1st Q:Well this sucks. Our opponent was 30 minutes late.Nevertheless,we start of the better, with a 13 point lead, thanks to some defence pressure from yours truly.
2nd Q: A hard battle with a lot of turnovers on each side.It ends with 8 points for us.
3rd Q: A rather lame one,with one exception.Unfortunately,number 8 from Skoplje twisted his ankle.Sad.
4th Q: We owned our opposition in this one.Or lead was even 34 points at one point, but Playmaker made it 20 in the last 3 minutes.Next up,the Final.
My contribution: No fouls,6 points and 2 rebounds.
15:00 Lunch,Yummy.
18:00 Out to town. Some drank beer,I had a few cokes.

Welcome to Sarajevo 1992-1996
by bureksasutlijom on Comments
The Siege of Sarajevo was the longest siege in the history of modern warfare, conducted by the Serb forces of self-proclaimed Republika Srpska and Yugoslav People's Army (later transformed to the Army of Serbia and Montenegro), lasting from April 5, 1992 to February 29, 1996.
It was fought during the Bosnian War between poorly equipped defending forces of the Bosnian government, who had declared independence from Yugoslavia, and the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and Bosnian Serb forces (Army of Republika Srpska) (VRS) located in the hills around Sarajevo, who sought to destroy the newly-independent state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and create the Serbian state of Republika Srpska (RS).
It is estimated that of the more than 12,000 people who were killed and the 50,000 who were wounded during the siege, 85% of the casualties were civilians. Because of killing and forced migration, by 1995 the population decreased to 334,663 - 64% of the prewar population.[3]
In January 2003, the ICTY Trial Chamber convicted the first commander of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps, Stanislav Galić, of the shelling and sniper terror campaign against Sarajevo, including the first Markale massacre.[4] General Galić was sentenced to life imprisonment for the crimes against humanity during the siege.[5] In 2007, a Serb general, Dragomir Milošević, who replaced Stanislav Galić on the commander position of the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps, was found guilty of the shelling and sniper terror campaign against Sarajevo and its citizens from August 1994 to late 1995 including the second Markale massacre. Milošević was sentenced to 33 years in prison. The Trial Chamber concluded that the Markale town market was hit on August 28, 1995 by a 120mm mortar shell fired from the Sarajevo-Romanija Corps positions.[6]
Before you think this is getting to political, just a reminder:I'm not doing this outta political reasons,I'm doing it as a homage to the people who gave up their lives for freedom, and that we are not allowed to forget them, who ever they've been.
